The ejected live shells had not been hit by the firing pin and would fire when put back into the gun, unless it went "click" again.

I had a 'Smith look at it he found a rough spot in the firing pin channel and fixed that but, it still wasn't reliable.

When I have no confidence in a gun I get rid of it. I traded it and $50 for a 500 and haven't looked back.
