That debate could go on for pages, and not that it matters - but, I got the idea the OP was asking more about outdoor activities, not so much indoor gyms.

I have a smartcarry and use it higher than is recommended - more at my waistline so the top of the smartcarry sits just behind the top of the pants or shorts. I also move it so the holster section rides to the right of center.
