Re: Received incorrect information during LTC renewal process...

My drivers license is free, I am retired and 240% combat disabled, as I recall it is the disability that makes it free. Also no real estate taxes, or parking fees at airports. Texas loves its veterans. But the "veteran" on your driver's license is not sufficient, you do need to provide a c...

Re: Wal-Mart employee refused LTC as ID?

I turn 79 tomorrow, so I have to find entertainment wherever I can. I ALWAYS pull out my CHL for answer to the request for photo ID. When it is refused and I am asked for a drivers license, I pull out my pilots license (which has no photo on it) and argue that it takes more skill to pass a pilots li...

Re: New CHL Experience

i have had fun with TSA twice so far. lI have a pacemaker and defibrillator, and I wear shorts with suspenders, the suspenders are with metal buckles. I have been sternly instructed to remove the suspenders because they set off the wand. I politely inform them that my shorts will fall off if I do th...

Re: Vicious Dogs trying to maul me

I have my CHL but this thread got me to thinking. I own a Taurus "Judge" revolver that when loaded with shotgun shells - is a shotgun! Is there some regulation that says my shotgun is NOT a shotgun?

Police Knowledge of CHL

I thought once I read it on this forum, but cannot find it now. When a law enforcement officer stops you, don't he already know you have a license to carry when he runs your tag?

Re: What brought you to getting your CHL/LTC

My reason seems quite different than most, I am a retired US Army Officer, combat veteran as well as a highway cop. Sort of "living" by a gun most of my life, it seems to be a completely silly situation to NOT be able to carry a gun! I don't feel threatened in my normal daily activities, a...

Re: 2nd amend becoming meaningless

I have trouble understanding all this as well. From reading this then if an armed police officer comes to your door, you can tell him o buzz off and only come back after he has disarmed himself. That don't seem right either. I think I disagree with the idea presented that the constitution ONLY appli...

Re: Confusion with too many rules

OK, someone posted that is is OK to carry in a church that is not posted. Easy to remember. Then another poster posted this, which seems to me to be a total contradiction. What am I missing? (b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries...

Re: Confusion with too many rules

I came across another today, my wife works at a local food pantry as a volunteer. Today someone came in, open carry I believe. The person in charge called the police, and was told that since it is in a church, nobody can have a weapon (there are no signs posted). The police further pointed out that ...

Re: Confusion with too many rules

I guess the flip side of the complexity is that enforcement takes that into consideration. I have not heard of anyone getting busted for being a bit dumb about all the rules. I find some comfort in CC that nobody actually KNOWS that I broke a law or two. :banghead:

Re: Confusion with too many rules

You got that right, originally I was only mildly confused, now I am REALLY confused. This should not be so darned complex, after all we who have guns are not exactly the brightest bulbs in the string anyway in all probability. :fire :fire [quote="ralewis"]I think all the replies have reinf...

Confusion with too many rules

For this old guy, a newbie to the Texas CC and OC rules, this can get confusing. I have made myself check for the applicable signs at entrances everywhere I go, but I just realized this morning that last Sunday I had CC in a church! No signs on the doors, so thought I was OK, and was happy that the ...

Re: Using your CHL effectively

Well, the consensus seems to be that I should have not used the CHL for ID. Some read a LOT into the post, probably because I was not as clear as I could have been. (by the way, I was NOT carrying at the time) There was no shouting or screaming, just a customer that was saying he should not be expec...
