Re: TSA approved leatherman
The TSA folks, depending on their mood and desires, seem to be able to call anything a weapon. Last month, after giving up on my argument regarding the Wilderness Tactical "Traveler's Belt" I was wearing, I got to observe a rather amusing debate with the next person in line. TSA said they ...

Re: Winchester gunsmith in Houston
You could try calling Winchester. Quite a few years ago I bought a new Winchester and had problems with it. At the time there was only one gunsmith in Houston who could do warranty work on their rifles. Don't remember his name, but he had an out of the way shop on the west side of town (had a hard t...

Gander Mountain Academy in Spring, TX
Was suprised last weekend when I visited the Gander Mounain on I45 in Spring. They have just opened a Gander Mountain Academy inside the store. Got a great tour of the facility and made plans to return soon and try out their "toys". If nothing else, it was great to see a large company full...

Re: Border Patrol Check Point Outside El Paso
BTW,.... Drug Dogs do not normally bark. Mostly they go around wagging their tail looking for the scent. When they catch it they will do what they are trained to do and that is normally sit and stay still. Back in my Army days the MP's had an older dog that would get excited and empty his bowls whe...

Re: A better smartcarry clone?
Not sure the slot they show for your Drivers License and CHL would work out very well. Pulling up your shirt and moving your hand towards the grip of your sidearm might not get the intended response from most LEO.

Have had the exact same issue with my Glock 34 a couple of times recently. Don't know the cause. Anxiously waiting to see if someone can diagnose on this thread.

If interested, Caleb Giddings, one of the first season contestants, does a 1 hour interview with each competitor that gets eliminated. The interviews are released immediately after the show, so you can watch on Tuesday night and then listen to the debrief on Wednesday on your commute to work. The in...

Re: Kahr to Pay $600K in Gun-Death Lawsuit
Neglience and allowing a criminal to possess or handle firearms. I guess this is why they settled. How do you allow a felon to work in a firearms company? Agreed, but then again, Smith & Wesson had a felon (James Minder) on their Board of Directors who was later appointed Chairman and had to re...

Re: Kahr to Pay $600K in Gun-Death Lawsuit
I"ve seen on TV people getting pistol whipped or hit with a rifle butt, but "gun deaths" are rare ... most people who die from getting shot it's because a bullet hit them and those should be called bullet deaths imho. :iagree: A great exchange from the movie Collateral - Max: You kil...

Traditional Recurve Bows
A few months ago I purchased an inexpesive bow for my 8yr old daughter and have been having fun shooting it with her in the back yard. Now I'm interested in getting a "real" one for myself. Being a history buff and since I'm only doing this for fun, I'd really like to get something differe...

Re: "Father - Daughter" Range Day?
Great idea. My youngest daughter is getting a .22 for her 9th birthday, she just doesn't know it yet. I'm looking for ways to expose her to other girls shooting (other than her big sister).

Re: Another Gun in a Backpack Goes Off
Or...little Johnny has his hand in the backpack playing with the gun and when it goes off he drops the pack. Perceptions get distorted when traumatic incidents happen, so everyone assumes it went off when the bag hit the floor and little Johnny reinforces that (he sure ain't gonna say...I was fiddli...
