Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

March is the tentative date...no worries posting it. However, the best-laid plans, sometimes screw up. But things are coming together. Production of custom 1911's in 3, 4, and 5 inch models is underway as well.

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

Thank you...We are working hard to get things off center. Architecture and other issues are completed, now we look for some calming on the economy and banking in order to help us keep the momentum.

navyguy wrote:Okay, I'm excited to see a new range going in. Just to clarify, when you say a "Bay" you're talking about the full range which might have 6 or 8 shooting positions (lanes maybe) not one shooting position.

We plan to have 2 bays with 15-20 positions each., It just may have to come in phases. One bay now, one bay 12 months later....depends on how financing works out as the economy rebounds

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

The recent economic issues have caused a hiccup with banking and lending, so we are doing a few work-arounds to get things moving. We will have 2 bays for pistols. One will be dedicated to LE and training, the other will be open to our customers. There will be memberships in order to know who is shooting at all times. Pricing and structure have yet to be determined. We have also had to place efforts into our production and line of custom 1911's as well as M4 / M16's. That has caused a delay in the range.

Feel free to stop in or call for additional info

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

We also plan to have one "tactical' range bay where shooters will be able to go down-range (organized of course)..This range will have no stalls. We are in talks to acquire a new 300 degree simulator as well.

That is the plan, until we are told otherwise, yes.

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

We area class 3 Type 2 (Manufacturer) for NFA. We hope to be very Class 3 friendly.

However, manufacturing a full-auto and allowing others to fire it indoors, are 2 completely different issues.

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

The ventilation will be light years ahead of OSHA and EPA requirements. There will be no reputation for us out there as being "dirty." We will have a lounge, just not certain as to the extent just yet. Bulletproof partitions are already on order. The shotgun issue s one we are looking into....I am talking with FBI and NRA about their research regarding shotgun indoors.

Any other thoughts, please let us know. Or stop in to see what we are doing.

Thanks in advance

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

What else do you think people are looking for in a range? We know what we know from research and always look for more details from everyone who shoots. Any insight to make this the best place to shoot would be great.

Thanks in advance

Thanks. That is scary and we will have ballistic stalls between the lanes for safety.

Please let us know of any other ideas that will allow us to keep shooters happy.

Thanks in advance

At a 100 yard range, all I can do is aim at the bullseye, and try to zero my scopes so that the bullet impacts at the right height above the point of aim. That might be fine for hunting use where that difference is still well within minute of white tail, but for bench resting, it's pretty much useless.
Closest 200 yard ranges to you are at Gibson's Outpost in Mesquite. Most experienced shooters I know have always heard of this range but dont know where it is... If you know someone who shoots surplus rifles with fmj ammo and cant find anywhere to shoot in dfw tell them about this website/gun range.

They didnt have a website until I created something for them here:

http://www.geocities.com/gibsonoutpost/ maps, photos and more.

Gibson's Outpost Gun Range
1712 Lawson Road
Mesquite, TX 75181
972-222-8127 or 972-222-6694
unofficial website created by a patron
website NOT created by owners of Gibson's Outpost

Open 6 Days a Week - 10am to 5:30pm
Open Tuesday through Sunday CLOSED MONDAYS!

$6 Membership Fee (one time)
$10.83 Range Fee (each time)

5 - 200 yard rifle ranges! (Closet 200 yard ranges to Dallas Fort Worth)
20 - 100 yard rifle ranges
8 - 50 yard rifle ranges
Many 7 yard pistol ranges
Many 15 or 25 (not sure) yard pistol ranges
No Shotguns (go to Garland Gun Range)

Long list of DFW gun ranges on this site, too.

As we begin construction, if you have thoughts that you think many would like to see incorporated into our indoor range, please let us know. We are trying to design / build this around shooters and LE, and would like to be tha way from day one. Any thoughts would always be appreciated...thanks in advance :patriot:

I am happy to discuss that in person or via telephone. I simply will not fuel the fire of of those who dismiss the idea and say it will never happen by putting anything into writing. We are moving forward and look forward to a very successful relationship in Roanoke
