Kind of like illegal border jumpers flying their native country's flag but claiming asylum.Jeff B. wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 10:46 pmNo, but I think your right... It's like my sister in North Carolina says, all these people want to come down from the Northeast because it's such a mess and then they want to do the same thing down here...strogg wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 10:42 pm As a relevant thought, I wonder what the makeup of Demonrats vs Republicans is for the folks who moved in from out of state in the past few years. Really. So far this decade over a million out of state people moved to Texas, many of which come from the deep blue depths of Kalifornistan. I am curious how they ended up swaying the votes in Texas. Anyone have any links to relevant stats?

NO!The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 11:03 pm https://www.texastribune.org/2018/04/18 ... lose-call/
I’ve never heard of this guy until now, and all of a sudden, the Texas Tribune is saying that it’s too close to call? I don’t know much about him, but I went and checked O’Rourke’s website for his stances on 2nd Amendment issues, and he seems to be solidly in the “ban civilian access to ‘weapons of war’” camp.
Anybody know much about him, and does anyone believe that he really can beat Cruz?

It's because there's too many of your homies moving here but don't want to assimilate into being a Texan. The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 9:28 pm I’m getting a little worried. With 66% of the vote in, Irish Bob O’Rourke is up by a couple of percent over Cruz. This is closer than I expected.

I can't find a better version of this but Cruz told the caravan there are free homes for them when they get here. Just look for the "Beto" sign in the front yard.

Ever notice how it's usually a democrat that will not let you know what party they are part of? I wonder why that is.Abraham wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 8:35 am I especially loath the ones where the candidate pushes out words with zero information content, but encourages voters to vote for him/her...doesn't even tell you if they're R or d.
But the voting public will never catch on...cuz we dumb...no, the sleazy politician and his advisors insultingly underestimate the voting public.

Well that seals the deal. Shiner Bock is my default beer.Middle Age Russ wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 9:01 am
Back to the topic at hand, Cruz' epic photo picking up Shiner Bock at a Buccee's stop yesterday has gotten some pretty good publicity returns, particularly in relation to Robert O's "cool kid" attempts.

K.Mooneyham wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 1:43 am Lots of discussion about why to vote for someone or why not to vote for someone. The primary focus of this forum is firearms. The primary focus of how I vote is firearms, specifically if a candidate is pro-or-anti Second Amendment, and not simply offering lip service about hunting, etc. If a politician doesn't believe that I, an honorably "retired" USAF veteran with ZERO criminal record, can own whatever firearms I so choose to own, then that tells me how they see me...as a subject to be ruled over. If a politician does believe that I can own whatever firearms I so choose to own, then that tells me they see me as a citizen with inherent rights enumerated in our Constitution, in this case the right to keep and bear arms. Everything else, for me, flows from that viewpoint. In the here and now, the politicians that tend to respect my right to keep and bear arms are generally in the Republican Party. I understand that Libertarians also generally respect that right, as well, but they just cannot seem to build up an organization that can win. I like some of their ideas, but those ideas are useless if they cannot attain office, and all they end up doing is "helping" an anti-2A Democrat to take a particular office. With those factors in mind, I will be voting for Senator Cruz.
The other problem with the Libertarian party is, they are full of nuts. The candidates at the top of the Libertarian ticket in the past are a very poor representation of the population that want's government out of their lives. Also, they are very bad about expressing what the Libertarian party is about.
Maybe we just need a Constitution Party. Reel the federal government back into what was laid out in the Constitution. If it's not in the Constitution, it's up to the individual states to pass laws.

DEB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 12:05 pmTo you perhaps a "non-issue" and "silly crap", but to me and others that believe as I do, these issues are important. My first and most important stand is on Gun Rights and the expanding of the same. Next are those issues that I find to be repugnant and against my beliefs. The only reason I chose gun rights first, is because that so far, most of those who are for gun rights also believe as I do.
If you want to take away my guns, chances are you fundamentally disagree with me about most everything else related to government.
The big problem with the Republican party is not enough Rhinos are kicked out during the primaries and we have to hold our noses to vote for them.

I know... but if anything comes of it, I would gladly spend $500 on ammo courtesy of Irish Bob. Or another pistol or AR parts. Oh the irony if I actually get cash from his campaign.philip964 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 21, 2018 9:57 am https://www.star-telegram.com/news/poli ... 44070.html
Here is a different article on how you can sue Beto for unwanted texts. Class Action Plaintiffs are asking for $500 per text you have received.
dang I have only gotten one.

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
Which is why I think there should be wall all the way around the state and if you want to immigrate here (foreign country or another state, which is the same thing), you have to go to Austin and drag a hippie to the otherside of a border. Which one, I don't care.
That's meant as a joke. So to all the liberal, hippie, leftists: don't get all hurt in the bobo. Or was it a joke?

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
I would venture to say the leanings of most on this board lean towards being a Constitutionalist or Libertarian. A vote for a democrat is a vote against the Constitution. Sometimes a vote for a Republican is the same thing but most of the time you don't find out until after the election. With Democrats you know what you get.
I will never understand how someone on a handgun forum dedicated to carrying and self defense could vote for a politician who would take that right away with the claim that the police will protect you. Then will run down law enforcement as being racist.
The first debate is tonight as long as Irish Bob does not weasel out. Should be interesting and frustrating at the same time. I should apologize in advance for saying bad words at the TV.

Beto O’Rourke to Black American: Illegal Immigrant Labor Needed for Cotton Gin
I've help harvest cotton for my buddy for the last 6 or 7 years. They do not have the new fancy baler machines but still use a boll buggy and module builder. It still takes 3 or 4 guys to get a crop in, more if you have multiple builders and machines. Every year for about 2 weeks I work from lunch until stop (sometimes 11 at night) in the heat drinking 2 gallons or more water a day. Every year I've helped, there have been no illegals and the farmers who work the land are working just as hard as the hired hands. Their hands come from all walks and generations. One man is in his 70's and before he retired, like me, would take vacation to work in the fields for extra cash during harvest. He happens to be the same race Irish Bob claims needs to be replaced by illegals because he won't work in the heat for any amount of money even though he has been helping them for 30 plus years. I've been to the gin and saw nobody that looked illegal to me working there. It was hot and noisy but the work is mostly automated now.
Just more talking out his rear.
https://www.breitbart.com/video/2018/09 ... otton-gin/Irish Bob Says:
I mentioned going to the high school in Roscoe, I also went to the cotton gin in Roscoe. And at that cotton gin, there are 24 jobs and the manager of that gin says it does not matter the wages that I pay or the number of hours that we set … no one born in Roscoe … or Texas or this country who is willing to work. But there are immigrants who are coming from Central America or Mexico or other parts of the world to Roscoe to work these jobs and to help build our economy. [Emphasis added]
