Re: Got stopped - TRIED to inform - ignored
The LTC is tied to the DL. The DL number is actually on the LTC. Vehicle registration is not. You can always run what is called a "blind 27". A 10-27 is ten-code for a DL check. Running it blind means you don't have a DL number. It is run against a name and date of birth or just the name. ...

Re: Lost a baby in the family
My wife and I lost a son in 1978. She was about 2 weeks from delivery and one morning she told me she had not felt the baby move for a while. The next day she went to the doctor and he confirmed what we feared. Our son was no longer with us. The doctor told her she needed to carry the baby until he ...

Re: LEO Instructions
If it is a properly executed felony stop and the officers are properly trained and/or experienced, one officer will give commands to the suspect(s). The most potential for multiple officers issuing commands is in a tactical operation where officers are entering an area with multiple areas and occupa...

Re: Accurate statistics
The last stats I saw indicated more children drowned accidentally in backyard pools than are accidentally shot by a handgun. If my child wanted to spend the night with a family that had a handgun in the house or a backyard swimming pool, I would choose the family with the handgun.

Re: Shooting Situation at Rolling Oaks Mall San Antonio
No, we don't know the sequence of events. But I guess we can conclude that every armed robber acts the same way and is very predictable. If you leave them alone, they always leave peacefully. That's how I was trained. If you arrive at the scene of an armed robbery and the suspect is still there, do ...

Re: Police Response
I was sent out in the county to a "burglary in progress" at 0300 hours one time. No one was around when I arrived. As I walked around the house, something hit me square in the behind and nearly knocked me down. I turned quickly, weapon in hand, to discover a herd of goats following me. I a...

Re: Police Response
Burglary and robbery doesn't make any difference. Whether the event is active or over makes the difference in response, or should.

Problem is, how many of these "kids" that have confrontations with the CJ system have parents that care, or just parents? Like everything else, it will be dumped on the public education system to "parent" them. But it could have a positive outcome.

Re: Texas Republican elector won't vote Trump
Another example: UT beats A&M 54-20 but A&M had 1500 total yards of offense and UT had 450. A&M declares themselves the winner. It's not how much you run up and down the field, it how many times you cross the goal line. Otherwise, you would have a totally different strategy on winning th...

If you presented most of these people with a "participation" trophy, they would go home, to the basement.

I purchased the kit but was reluctant to install it since I don't have a press to remove the pin. I was concerned about using a punch. Seems you had success with the punch so I may try it also. Thanks,

Re: Waco-area man finds out carrying at school stadium = no-no
Here is a big red flag. The officer was going to let him go. The perp was dense and found himself arrested. If I were the officer, I would not have charged him with Public Intox. The first thing the defense attorney is going to ask is "If he was drunk, why were you going to allow him to leave w...

Re: Got pulled over by DPS Trooper
The majority of violator contacts, where the officer has no reason to suspect any issues, is: "Good afternoon (morning), I am Officer X with the Y Police Department. The reason for the contact (stop) is I observed you (radar indicated) you were XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I need to see your operator...

Re: Got pulled over by DPS Trooper
Sorry, disagree with E.Marquez. The first thing, unless instructed otherwise, is to let the officer know you have a LTC, you are armed and where it is located. He will plan the rest of his interactions with you based on that. If he opens his door and orders you out of the car and on the ground throu...
