When you're on your own property you can wear what ever you want.Setxjeff wrote:The thigh rig is also better for Women than a plain belt holster. The different curves my wife has than me makes a pistol in a belt holster stick out. I made her a short drop down holster for her 9 shot 22 snake gun and its works perfectly when we are doing fence work ect.

Re: Mini Rant over HB910 and Horizontal Shoulder Holsters
All I've seen on what holsters must be used for open carry are belt holster and shoulder holster. Nothing specific as to how it should be carried or attached. I think with the law whatever is perceived by the average person would be the rule. (Standard) A belt holster would normally be directly attached or have slots or clips to accommodate the belt and would be worn at the waist. Where do you wear a belt? You wear it around your waist not your thigh. Shoulder holsters also bring up some questions. Does the gun have to be carried under the arm? Can it be worn with the gun on your chest? Is a Bandoleer Rig which is worn over the shoulder but hangs down on the waist okay? Sure glad I'm just going to be wearing a standard OWB holster concealed and occasionally an ankle holster and pocket holster.
How do you all think an ankle holster with a strap running up my leg and attached to my belt while wearing shorts and flip flops will look? Now there's a fashion statement. Just kidding with a little bit of sarcasm thrown in. I think the point is we all know what a belt holster, and shoulder holster look like and how to wear one. Don't leave it up to interpretation.

Re: Mini Rant over HB910 and Horizontal Shoulder Holsters
Last year the wife and I stopped for lunch at popular local Deli. We got our sandwiches and sat down at a table next to several gentlemen in flight suits. One of them was carrying a handgun in a horizontal shoulder rig similar to the one shown in the OP's link and article. The dangerous end of the pistol was pointing right at my wife. I jokingly said, just loud enough for the guy with the gun to hear, "Look Hun, that guys pointing his gun at you." He calmly turned and said, " Don't worry it won't go off." He did reposition himself so it wasn't pointing at my wife. I chuckled and told him I wasn't concerned, and I had one also but you can't see it. This group of guys were a flight crew working for the Department of Homeland Security. I will say it is a little concerning looking down the muzzle of gun in one of these holsters, even though I know it's very unlikely it will fire when holstered. It just goes against the grain and everything I've been taught about gun safety. If he had on his jacket we wouldn't have even known. Probably not a holster I would open carry with. I'm wondering if we will see some changes and a better description of what holsters can be used for open carry in the next session. It's obvious the vague description we have now in the law has made for many questions. Only time will tell.
