Glad it worked out ok for you. I've had a number of close calls on the bike myself, luckily never actually hit one. Although just this last week on the Natchez Trace Parkway, about 50 miles south of Nashville, got close enough to hitting one that I could have reached over and touch it.

Like several others have already mentioned, I used to (and still do) worry more about deer (and now wild hogs) at night, but actually, all my close encounters have been during mid-day.

And like you, I open carry while on the bike. Not trying to "make a statement" or anything like that. Just have to keep my shirt tucked in to keep it from blowing up around my shoulders. Not a pretty sight!
