(that's the Rep who's nicknamed "King of POO")@TMFtx on agreement that House will debate #campuscarry: "I will continue fighting...This fight is far from over." #txlege #gunbills
Straus spox just confirmed "the House intends to bring that bill (#campuscarry) to the floor." #txlege #opencarry #gunbills
A push to expand rights to carry guns on public-college campuses has largely fizzled.
Of the 15 “campus carry” bills introduced earlier this year, none has passed. Measures in 11 states have already effectively died, including in Florida, where gun-rights supporters had high hopes before two bills stalled before reaching floor votes.
And on Thursday, the Nevada senate defeated an 11th-hour move to tuck campus carry into a broader firearms measure, likely dooming the effort this year. Bills in at least two other states are expected to fail soon as well.
Attention is now focused on lawmakers in Texas, who could vote to expand campus carry soon, in the waning days of the legislative session. A win in Texas, which could come as early as next week, could help keep the effort alive and provide momentum heading into 2016.
No, it just means it can be heard today. Not will.PBR wrote:Shows listed under the Notice of Intent for 5/22/2015 so does that mean it will be heard today now?
At this point I'm guessing two things:v7a wrote:@lmcgaughy tweet:Chatter at press table: Since Patrick says the #txlege has a deal on #opencarry, will that mean more heel-dragging on taking an actual vote?

Someone realized it's going to pass and wants to be able to take credit at the last minute?TVGuy wrote:Not sure if it means anything, but a co-sponsor was just added to HB 910 in the actions log.
Lastly, the issue of open carry will finally be passed and Texas will join the large majority of states who allow open carry. I am proud of the fact the legislature is making history while defending life, liberty and our Second Amendment Right.
