The article covered two separate problems as if they were one, which makes it confusing. It starts out with a problem of small objects getting in to the holster trigger guard. So the article starts out with a problem that seems completely unrelated to the out-of-battery boom problem. Where's the editor? sigh.
Keys in the holster was the proximate cause of an unintended discharge in Indiana a couple years ago...at the memorial service for an officer killed in the line of duty. Cops were packed in tight, one sat down next to another and on of the keys hanging off his belt got in the holster of the officer next to him. When he stood up...BOOM. IIRC the round hit the lower leg of cop in the row behind.
The out-of-battery problem is scary tho… I wonder if that is why the pistol is no longer in production?
