Robber pronounced dead at hospital.Shaquille Gales, 23, of Bellwood, walked up to the older man about 5:45 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Thomas Street, pulled out a gun and demanded his property, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The 58-year-old, a concealed-carry permit holder, pulled out his own weapon and shot the attempted robber, police said.
Apparently original version of this story said that the robber was shot in the head. Current version says autopsy shows bullet passed through arm and into chest.
Last year citizens defending themselves killed more bad guys (12) than the cops (11).
