WRT to the magazine falling out: John & Vicki Farnam taught me that when adminstratively load and holster my handgun, give the magazine a tug to make sure it is properly seated. That has saved me from a boo-boo a couple times.
My FN Hi Power has a mag disconnect. It is in a box sitting on a shelf somewhere in the closet.
