When I heard on the news, it brought a smile to my face. There are some old conservative actors who still vote.
I had not paid any attention to the Oscars, just chortled at the headlines about its decline. However it's interesting and pleasing that Anthony Hopkins won best actor. He made a very insightful comment awhile back:

“People ask me questions about present situations in life, and I say, ‘I don’t know, I’m just an actor,'” Hopkins told Pitt. ” I don’t have any opinions. Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything. There’s no controversy for me, so don’t engage me in it, because I’m not going to participate.”

Since the Oscars have basically turned into a "controversy awards," it's fitting AH decided to skip it.

The family of the deceased actor have been classy about Hopkins' win, which is nice:
