Your example is syllogistic. My counter example would be that although we don't know a cure for AIDS, let's make up some things to show how bad it is, while pointing out that people don't die from genital herpes (Also questionable at best) just to scare people from doing things that cause AIDS. Instead, let's put it right back in the same genre. CDC's latest report runs to 71 pages, and you can probably cherry pick whatever numbers you want from it, but the numbers you quoted don't appear in it in that form.jimlongley wrote:adaboy5 wrote:We don't need to pass this "informatiojimlongley wrote:adaboy5 wrote:These are numbers that are shared with us. Please update as needed. I just like to keep people informed. It's astounding how many people die from the abuse period. As far as the gun deaths I believe it's all lumped together how death occurred. Sorry for the bad typing I'm using a tablet and it's different. We need to pass this type of information around keep people aware!
Woosah!! That's like saying we dont know the cure for aids so we dont need to share information about it!! Just because we dont know exact numbers doesnt mean we dont share info. I believe we will never know all the correct numbers becasue to many people have an idea on how they are compiled and will never agree on how to do it( another problem in itself). As long as we make people aware that it's not the illegal drugs that are the big problem, it's the legal stuff you buy on every corner!
The numbers are wrong, that makes the "information" disinformation and purely propaganda. Your stated purpose, to make people aware, is rendered defective by the use of numbers that are questionable, and actually begins to appear to be the start of a plea for the legalization of pot. Using such skewed and even obviously wrong numbers is exactly the same strategy employed by the anti gun, anti rights nuts who seek to take our guns from us.
Instead of arguing with people here who have shown the numbers to be suspicious, you should be pushing back against the people in authority who published the numbers, we are more your friends than they are.[/quot
You got me all wrong buddy! I share things from time to time and it starts a conversation/debate some times people get mad, bent out shape... As far as friends they are indeed good to have. I try not to take myself to serious you know self-righteous, holier than thou!
