Hormone Derange". To wit:

Harm, hormone derange,
Warder dare enter envelopes ply,
Ware soiled'em assured adage cur-itching ward
An disguise earn it clotty oil die.
As a young child I often wondered in music class what was so discouraging about "seldom." It was a mystery. Why would "seldom" so remarkably be heard, and why would the word be discouraging?

I imagined depressed cowpokes moping along the old top rail, one and then the other dredging up the energy to make sure that poisonous word was heard.

"Seldom, Clem."

"Yeah, I know, Slim. Seldom. It's discouraging."

"Why do we keep saying seldom, Clem?"

"Well, Slim, this is home, it's on the range, and this is where 'seldom' is heard. Hurts, don't it?"

Oh, well, I guess it's just part of Texas.

Seldom.

Dadgummit, seldom.

Re: Word use that drives you up the wall!

Some idioms are like fingernails on chalkboards. "Commonsense gun reform" is an affront to veracity, but I have to admit a news story comment I saw once hit the nail up-side the head. "All gun ppl are loosers."

That is so true. I am a looser. Just this weekend I loosed about three hundred rounds downrange and sounded a barbaric "yawp" in honor of liberal arts majors unable to see the fun in a day at the range.

Couldn't find quite all the brass, though. Shoot a few, lose a few.
