Re: Glock 43

As a Glock practitioner myself, the reasons for adopting the platform remains both its reliability and modularity with mags (G17 mag in a G19,etc). That being said, the past advantage was using sibling mags in the smaller pistols. With the G43 single stack, this can’t be done. Glock was late to the market with the single stack pistol and many competitiors such a S&W filled the void with their offerings. I have a 9mm shield that has had some improvements added and is now a superb SS lightweight 9mm summer EDC pistol.
At this time, I can’t see making the swap to the G43 regardless of the success I’ve enjoyed with the larger Glock stablemates while I have a pistol that already fills the role of the G43. Sorry Gaston, you should’ve focused on bringing the G43 to market in lieu of the G42.
Without looking the dates up the introduction of the 42 and 43 were in the ball park of 18-24 months apart. I can't see reversing the introduction making much of a difference when they were years late. I see the 42 rollout and the troubles that had to be fixed help make the 43 a much smoother and less troublesome introduction. Introduce the 42 1st in the US and if it struggles then the caliber and single stack design got the best of Gaston in the short term but is fixable. Introduce the 43 with similar problems and its late to a crowded market. Might be a 3 strike and out situation, but we will never know now.

I had a Kahr PM9 I carried for years. Switched to the 43 and no regrets.
