Re: Constitutional Carry Impact on LTC Classes
Obviously, if CC is passed, no classes will be required. It will put an end to LTC classes as a whole.

My check cleared on December 20th. I received the exact same email today.

Re: Need help with CHL8 and a dumb question.
If you check the CHL-90 form, you'll see that it is possible to apply for both at the same time. Possible, yes! I am talking about those that may not have actually paid attention. But I have never met anyone that went the instructor route without getting the CHL first, so my theory could be way off.

Re: DPS list of instructors
I tried contacting RSD via the contact form, but never heard anything in response, but that was months ago. I figured it wasn't worth worrying about until they fix the list.

Re: Need help with CHL8 and a dumb question.
The only reason I can think of is that some people may have signed up as an instructor thinking it came with an automatic CHL.cbunt1 wrote:I'm not sure how or why that happens, but apparently it's not unheard of.

Re: Finally I am offered the CHL Instructor's Class
I hope that you do receive some info on all the admin/logistics elements with your certificate. They told me the same thing when I took my class. But, alas, all I ever received was my certificate. No supplemental info came with it at all. I had to piece together all the other details myself. Good lu...

Re: New Safe Storage PDF on Instructor Resources
Yeah, it appears to just be the excerpts from the DPS instructors training presentation. It seems to follow the course outline. If your presentation follows the current outline, there should be no real need to modify your existing presentation.

Re: Handgun Retention and Equipment
Additionally, I would like to know if there has been any discussion on "thigh rigs"? Technically, they do attach to a belt, but also to the thigh via straps. Considering the whole unit relies on a belt for attachment, does that qualify it as a "Belt Holster"?

Re: Proficiency Demonstration and malfunctions
It is both! Good firearm with good ammo prevents issues and makes it an easier test to pass. I have had several students that had to work through failure to feed/fire/eject scenarios. One actually needed to reshoot with a different gun due to too many "misses" that were just never fired. T...

Re: How long to wait
I guess in looking back, it was closer to 30 days. Actually 36 until it arrived in my mailbox. It sure seemed like a longer wait though. My recommendation is to do everything you can to prepare for your class until your cert arrives. Unfortunately, you will not be able to access the course outline u...

Re: How long to wait
I was told during the class that we can not conduct any classes until we receive our cert in the mail and have it in hand. Mine took about 3 months to arrive.

Never-mind. I found it in another post. It seems to be a DPS administrative rule.

Re: Allowed Time Between Class and Application
Awesome. Thanks! Is that in the statutes somewhere? Or just a "current" rule with DPS? Do you know?

Allowed Time Between Class and Application
I am sure this has been asked before, but I was unable to find it here or within the statutes. One of the most common questions I get is, "How much time do I have between taking the class and submitting my application?" Or vice-versa? I have always told my students that they certainly have...

Re: Check your new Instructor Certificate
That is terrible! I wonder how long it will take to get that corrected. Can't teach a class without the (correct) cert in hand.
