I don't have any examples of open carriers being taken out first. In the mid-90's, I lived in Phoenix, AZ. I shot action pistol with several friends from the Sheriff's department. Their stories of people from other states, that came to vacation, strap on an open carried gun and get hit over the head, are what convinced me to conceal. I don't know how frequent it is, but it happens.bortaz wrote:Richbirdhunter wrote:Has anyone heard of anything happening to anyone that OC's where it's already legal? It's been legal in several states for years, I've never heard of anything happening to them because of OC
In every forum I use, you constantly see people talking about criminals "taking you out first" when they see you open carrying. However, I haven't yet found a single person that can provide a single link to a single story of this ever happening in the singular history of the US of A.

Re: Who is going to open carry?
True. I also believe that many have a false sense of security, while open carrying in a crowded urban environment, of their situational awareness and retention skills. The Annoyed Man wrote:
Without situational awareness, it doesn't matter what you carry, how you carry it, or what you carry it in. That, and a due regard for the sensibilities of people around me, will be the determining factors for me.
