Re: Year End Instructor Recertification?
Most likely anytime after July 1, 2017. which is also when you can pay the renewal fee online & send in your docs.. CHL-90, CHL-100, NRA docs, etc. Instructor renewal classes would be starting in late summer. held at Florence, TX most likely. Any harm in being proactive and sending those docume...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute
I started to respond to specific posts, but it's better to do so in a general post. I understand people's frustration about the number of gun bills that will be passed this session. I share that frustration, especially concerning HB560 that I have promoted for 10 years. I don't have a problem with ...

Re: Question regarding September 1
I already have a class scheduled for Sept 1. If DPS doesn't give up some information, and soon, this will be a very interesting class. Yes Sir, we have one scheduled for September 7, paid reservations and everyone has been told it will be a 6-hour class...glad to hear I'm not the only one. Gary htt...

Question regarding September 1
Every question I send the DPS/CHL Instructor email address (even those that need no more than a simple yes or no) gets answered with the canned "Information will be posted soon." It's like an auto reply on anything to do with September 1. I can understand and appreciate that they don't hav...

Another good reason to avoid Kalifornia.C-dub wrote:Has someone told you otherwise? In LA, one must inform another homeowner that they are armed before entering their residence, but that is not the case here in Texas.

Re: Inappropriate propagandizing during CHL class
Judging by your tone and general drift, I assume you'll "ban" me now . . . That's a shame because I think that I could be a productive member of this forum/community and contribute to the discussions taking place here. Then stop trolling and do so, but do it now. You'll be gone on your ne...

Re: CHL Instructor Renewal Class
Attended yesterday(9-1-09).Class as boring as ever.Good news,no $5 for TRs.You can download CHL 100 forms free,on DPS web. I heard that we do not have to go back for 4 years, but my certificate expires in 2011. They may do renewal class online.I really do not think that they are sure yet, maybe I mis...

Re: more changes in the works
DPS explained the fingerprinting situation during this summers instructor course - they take a look at the cards submitted and determine if they'll send them on to the Feds. If the prints don't look like they'll go through they kick them back to the applicant to have them redone. The reason that DP...

Re: Boy Scouts of America HQ
I was in the area today and decided to stop by the BSA headquarters in Irving to visit the scout shop and take a look at their museum since I've never been. Well, on the front of the door of the building housing both is what appears to be a valid 30.06 sign. For years in Scouts (Eagle Scout here!) ...

Re: Ammo Shortage
I did not realize the conspiracy theorists were serious. I thought you fellers were making a joke. It is obvious this is not some manipulated shortage. It is simple supply/demand at work. Ammo manufacturers ARE NOT charging any more for ammo than they would have charged a year ago. Now the ...

Large North Texas church posting 30.06
Just a heads up...Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church (mega church in Allen, TX) is in the process of 30.06 posting. I got a call today from one of their members wanting to know if I knew where they could buy 30.06 signs. He had called DPS earlier, and they told him to call someone local that taught CHL...
