I would not allow that in my business, as if you want to carry here, you must conceal it and keep it to your self. I fear many places will start putting up signs with our Open Carry Advocates running around. :grumble
So does that mean you will be putting up a 30.07 sign? if we see any change I would expect it to be with the posting of 30.07 signs.
I sincerely hope to see 30.07 in place. As far as I was aware, that was not going to be in place as of yet. If so, I would not, simply do to not intending to cause undue punishment for those wishing to express their rights. (Assuming the penalty may be steeper than necessary.) I've already had this discussion with those under my command, and as of now, there is no restriction, but anybody open carrying will not be permitted to enter or stay in the building. Keep it concealed, nobody needs to see it. I run a class establishment, with dancing and music, nobody needs to be on a dance floor with a open carry weapon IMO. If you wish to conceal, I fully support it in my business, though I would like a heads up. :coolgleamA:
30.07 is part of the bill and will go into effect the same time as open carry on 1-1-16. If posting 30.07 it has to be posted at every entrance to the establishment.
Nice, can you provide me a link to look over the coming 30.07? I'll try to look it up at the same time in case you don't reply any time soon.

Edited to add:
I did find this so far, that is it.

30.07 starts on page 30 line 24.
Thank you kindly JMRA, made a print out of the big changes: 30-32, and gave them to my guys, and I'll probably keep some around to hand out. Just talked to two P.O.'s, and neither of them new you could verbally tell somebody they could not carry either open or concealed, they thought it had to be posted, or it was completely allowed. I still don't plan on posting a 30.07 sign, as if I can see it, my verbal warning is enough if I don't care for the way they're carrying in my establishment. If it's deemed not appropriate at the time they carry, I'll tell them I guess. I don't exactly plan on letting anybody OC unless it's one of my guys, except for the fact that they already do.

Were there any other big changes this Legislative session JMRA? I've been trying to kep up, but work is taking up all my time.

Hey JMRA, I just got asked, and I wasn't quite sure, what's the current standing on stop and ID for open carriers so far? Is there anything as of yet?
There was an amendment that addressed the stop and ID issue but it was removed in conference. Most believe that as long as you aren't doing anything illegal the 4th amendment protects you. Time will tell.
Agreed, if on the other side, I would at least go and talk to an OC'er, and if they want to talk, fine. If not, oh well. If they give an opportunity to legally ID, I would. I would however be less suspicious of somebody with an ID of sorts shown, though not required. If I saw somebody with an ID holder that covered the sensitive parts of their CHL, and I just got to see the big red letters, I would mosey along. Just me though, everybody's different.

Thanks anyway JMRA, I knew I could ask you and get a straight answer. ;-)

(Just realized I haven't been this actively posting in months. Usually just watch and observe, sure glad this place is here.)

K.Mooneyham wrote:To the OP, I am now confused. I thought you said something about TABC. If you are running a 51% establishment, then no one should be carrying any handguns into your establishment, concealed included. And that won't change come January 1, 2016, either. 51% establishments will still be off-limits to those carrying handguns, concealed or open. I hope you understand that, if you are indeed running a 51% establishment.
I don't recall the OP mentioning anything TABC, but I did. And there are two different TABC signs in reference to us. The TABC RED %51 and the TABC BLUE under %51. I mentioned that I have a TABC BLUE sign.

Hope that cleared it up. ;-)

Charles, this open carry bill is for "LICENSE HOLDERS ONLY". I one does not have a license(read that to mean CHL) then they are breaking the law if they carry, openly or concealed, it makes no difference.

This OC Bill is for license holders only. Please read up on HB 910 found here:

Agreed, I think he much deserves the honor.

All it will do for me is relieve the concern of legal debate if my weapon is seen. It'll help after closing time at work too, when I'm at my desk. It's kinda getting old sitting here with my vest on. Or if not wearing my vest, trying to keep my shirt tucked in nicely and non-imprinting.
