Agreed, if on the other side, I would at least go and talk to an OC'er, and if they want to talk, fine. If not, oh well. If they give an opportunity to legally ID, I would. I would however be less suspicious of somebody with an ID of sorts shown, though not required. If I saw somebody with an ID holder that covered the sensitive parts of their CHL, and I just got to see the big red letters, I would mosey along. Just me though, everybody's different.jmra wrote:There was an amendment that addressed the stop and ID issue but it was removed in conference. Most believe that as long as you aren't doing anything illegal the 4th amendment protects you. Time will tell.Charlies.Contingency wrote:Thank you kindly JMRA, made a print out of the big changes: 30-32, and gave them to my guys, and I'll probably keep some around to hand out. Just talked to two P.O.'s, and neither of them new you could verbally tell somebody they could not carry either open or concealed, they thought it had to be posted, or it was completely allowed. I still don't plan on posting a 30.07 sign, as if I can see it, my verbal warning is enough if I don't care for the way they're carrying in my establishment. If it's deemed not appropriate at the time they carry, I'll tell them I guess. I don't exactly plan on letting anybody OC unless it's one of my guys, except for the fact that they already do.jmra wrote:Here is the text of the billCharlies.Contingency wrote:Nice, can you provide me a link to look over the coming 30.07? I'll try to look it up at the same time in case you don't reply any time soon.jmra wrote:30.07 is part of the bill and will go into effect the same time as open carry on 1-1-16. If posting 30.07 it has to be posted at every entrance to the establishment.Charlies.Contingency wrote:I sincerely hope to see 30.07 in place. As far as I was aware, that was not going to be in place as of yet. If so, I would not, simply do to not intending to cause undue punishment for those wishing to express their rights. (Assuming the penalty may be steeper than necessary.) I've already had this discussion with those under my command, and as of now, there is no restriction, but anybody open carrying will not be permitted to enter or stay in the building. Keep it concealed, nobody needs to see it. I run a class establishment, with dancing and music, nobody needs to be on a dance floor with a open carry weapon IMO. If you wish to conceal, I fully support it in my business, though I would like a heads up.jmra wrote:So does that mean you will be putting up a 30.07 sign? if we see any change I would expect it to be with the posting of 30.07 signs.Charlies.Contingency wrote:I'm still concerned as to how this will affect where we can carry and such. How is this going to work with 30.06 exactly with the wording and all? I have TABC Blue signs which forbid the unlicensed carry of a firearm, so technically somebody could walk in open carrying their 1911 or whatever it be. I would not allow that in my business, as if you want to carry here, you must conceal it and keep it to your self. I fear many places will start putting up signs with our Open Carry Advocates running around.
Edited to add:

Were there any other big changes this Legislative session JMRA? I've been trying to kep up, but work is taking up all my time.
Hey JMRA, I just got asked, and I wasn't quite sure, what's the current standing on stop and ID for open carriers so far? Is there anything as of yet?
Thanks anyway JMRA, I knew I could ask you and get a straight answer.

(Just realized I haven't been this actively posting in months. Usually just watch and observe, sure glad this place is here.)
