True, they are posting a sign that is unnecessary, but think of it more as a reminder. If I were to go there I would not know there is a court in that building. Or is it obvious that there is a court in there, like a sign that indicates what offices there are?

Not that I recall, I just remember a sign sayin Wilson County, and there bing another sign somewhere indicative of the sheriff's office. My old department had signs outfront recognizing the court, and scanners inside the door for when court was in session. I forgot what signage they had there, but I was allowed to carry anyway, being I was escorting inmates.

No. If the locaiton is a court room or offices of the court, then they are off-limits at all times. And premises in this case is defined as byuilding or portion of a building. So, depending on the layout unless the court is in an area that is totally cordoned off from the other offices, the building would pretty well be off-limits.

Kinda like Wilson County Texas. The court room is at the entrance to the rest of the building last time I went through there. They had a 30-06 sign at the front, and a metal detector inside the door.

According to state legislature, the law Mayor Howard references, Sec. 30.06 in the Texas penal code, is not enforceable if "the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity."
Sec. 46.035(c) of the Texas penal code, however, states that licensed concealed handguns are illegal "at any meeting of a governmental entity" so long as the 30.06 sign is posted.
On Oct. 7, Tom Bean Police Chief Frank Deater responded to News 12's request for comment on the issue.
Deater replied, in an email:
"We here in Tom Bean, Texas are like many small communities that have only one main building and use it for multi functional purposes.
We at city hall house, the water department, the city secretary office, the Mayor’s Office, the Library, the Police Department and the city court.
The penal code address places where weapons are prohibited. In penal code section 46.03 subsection (3) on the premises of any government court or offices utilized by the court, unless regulations or written authorizations of the court.
City court activity is an everyday function here at the Tom Bean city hall. This is the reason that we posted the law for our customers and citizens who carry. With the city court here, it is illegal to carry on these premises."

Notice he said premises? Giving the impression that it's illegal to carry around there, but he does not emphasize on the meaning of premises for the ill informed. I think they're just covering their tails with this bull Excuse.

Thank you. If it were my local government, I would be hounding every day for answers. You don't get to declare that you're establishing a law violating our 2nd amendment rights, AND in direct violation against Texas law. There are no free passes, and somebody willing to establish something against the law show's their true colors, and I see an anti-gun flag over her.
