There are many in Government who don't have SM accounts because of not wanting to deal with people who are anti-whatever....anti-"them". But there are many who do have FB, Twitter and such and use them Stickland is one, and he is on often and interacts with his followers. Donna Campbell simply posts and doesn't interact at all. Bonnen posts so seldom I forget his is even there.
I agree with you 100% SewTexas! Social media is a tool, whether it is facebook, twitter, or some other site. Some on here choose not to use it, and that's fine. It's a personal choice, just like method of carry is a personal choice. I'm not going to criticize someone because of their personal choices. My state rep and state senator post on social media. Other local elected officials post on Nextdoor.com. It makes it handy to keep an eye on what they are doing and provides an additional OPTION for reaching them on issues that may be important to myself and others. Personally, I like having options. YMMV
Facebook is a cesspool of the most vile defamation spewed by keyboard Jihadists. Waste time there if you so desire:

Just because you are old and don’t understand it, doesn’t make it horrible.

I’m sure insulting those of us who disagree with you isn’t going to “win our hearts and minds.”
Perhaps not, but often in a debate the point isn't to win over the person you are debating but to win over the people who might be watching. In the presidential debates Trump didn't win over Hillary, but he sure as hell won over others. Being able to criticize Bonnen and others like him won't win him over, but it might be able to get others to oppose him or at least stop supporting him.
But insulting people who already agree with you that Bonner has revealed himself as aligning with the left isn’t helpful. I don’t recall anyone posting on this thread supporting Bonner. It’s our disdain for the tactics of TCGR and OCT you hold against us.
Yep, Bonnen needs to get gone, no disagreement there. But meantime he is showing that he has sharp elbows. He is succeeding in pushing the buttons of TCGR and OCT by simply ignoring them, on Facebook of all meaningless places. So TCGR and OCT get all spun up and exhaust resources in the "cyber battlefield" (give me a break) while meanwhile behind the scenes Bonnen is probably securing his re-election. Sometimes you win the battles you don't fight.

Reminds me of the story of the old bull and the young bull both standing on top of a hill looking down on a herd of cows. The young bull says to the old bull: "Hey, let's run down there and...". Pretty sure you know the rest of this one.

Pass the popcorn please.

Ok, you are right. If I ever get a Facebook account I will ban it immediately. :nono:

Re: Speaker Bonnen sued in Federal Court for 1st amendment violations, blocking critics on Facebook

O.F.Fascist wrote: Fri May 17, 2019 4:21 pm There has been a similar ruling in the 5th circuit.

https://www.law.com/legaltechnews/2019/ ... 397-19289/
“Official censorship based on a state actor’s subjective judgment that the content of protected speech is offensive or inappropriate is viewpoint discrimination,” the opinion said, noting the court was assuming in its ruling that the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page was a public forum and subject to First Amendment protection.
So all Bonnen has to do is take his page private and there goes the hissy fit lawsuit. And there would be no court costs if there was no lawsuit to begin with.

And who cares about Facebook anyway? Only those who live in their parents basements.

Spend the effort defeating Bonnen next election.

Not impressed by frivilous lawsuits filed by hurt snowflakes and upheld by liberal judges.

Where are the material damages????

Did CJ suffer a hang nail or perhaps an incurable yeast infection?

CJ and OCT aren't the ones who sued. I just used his share because his post is public; to view the post on Lone Star Gun Rights' page one has to be logged in.

Why do you think this isn't a serious issue? There have been court rulings on this before. When people with government paychecks work to limit our rights, I support anyone pushing back against them on any front.
That is interesting. I have no idea why I thought something this ridiculous had anything to do with him. Yeah, there's a little sarcasm in there, but mostly a curious mistake on my part.

However, I do fail to understand how being unfriended on FB is lawsuit worthy. The two guys or group are not being fined or jailed or in other way prohibited from spreading their message. They're just not being allowed to do it on this FB page. Just as Bitter Clinger noted, he wasn't even banned by FB. Which, BTW, also would not be an infringement of their First Amendment rights. FB is a private company. They can ban or control whatever they want on their platform. Maybe if Pocahontas Warren gets her way FB will become a public utility or something and then these guys will have a leg to stand on. Personally, I think this lawsuit is ridiculous and childish, but that's just me. Or perhaps not.
:iagree: Glad to know not everyone was asleep during Civics class! :thumbs2:
The part he missed is that in this instance it is a government employee who is silencing speech on a public page, not Facebook.
Two wrongs don't make a right. Its childish and its harassment IMHO. YMMV.

He was not banned by Facebook. He was "unfriended" or whatever the moronic Facebook term would be.

Really? I am suing because you wouldn't let me post on your Facebook page? Complete nothing burger.
