When I get home, I remove the holster and keep the gun in it... loaded and chambered. There is absolutely zero reason to unload the thing unless you are shooting it, flying with it, or cleaning it.
What you are doing is actually more dangerous. Handling a loaded and unholstered weapon will eventually lead to problems, no matter how safe you think that you are... you are still human. Let's minimize the chances for NDs and for a catastrophic explosion due to bullet setback by keeping the pistol in the holster and loaded when it is not on your belt. This will have the added benefit of you not having to monkey with the trigger on your Shield. Problem solved!
It really is just that easy.
