When I was growing up my uncle had horses. One time when I was about 8 he told me to go to a closet like thing with hay bales in it, grab the top bale and jerk it out and jump out of the way. That was because his two Shetland stallions were pretty rambunctious as they came running in for feeding time and he didn't want me to be run over. Well, I go do as he says and I have no clue what typical 8 year old boy thing I was doing, probably fighting pirates or dragons or something, as I opened it and reached for the top bale. When I did look up where I was reaching my hand was a few inches from the top bale and the HUGE snake atop the bale. I yelled for my uncle who disposed of the snake and we finished feeding the horses. Turns out it was a 3-4 foot long chicken snake so there was minimal danger, just a good scare. I wondered how a snake could get in a gun safe unless maybe through an opening for an electric cord to pass through or some foreign spy agency with an agenda.
