Re: The babying of the next generation!
I've never been in actual combat, but I've sent countless 155mm artillery rounds down range (traumatic brain injury) and conducted many Emergency Action launch countdown drills of live nuclear missles in Germany, aimed at targets in the Warsaw Pact countries. I've had to air lift a gravely ill soldier out of a firing point and lost soldiers in training accidents. Tinnitus, TBI, 70% disabled; many good memories, some bad memories, but no PTSD.E10 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 11:24 am Those kids who say they're suffering from PTSD from an unexpected election result have never experienced real traumatic stress, like surviving a firefight or the blast of a IED, suffering a concussion or perhaps losing a limb or two. I haven't, either, but I don't claim PTSD. Drama Queens.
PTSD -- "You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means" (Inigo Montoya, "The Princss Bride", 1987). "Bah! Humbug!" (Ebenezer Scrooge, "A Christmas Carol", 1843).

I learned to work with a diverse group of folks, learned a different language as well as new life skills that have served me well. And I got to blow things up.gtolbert09 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:06 amhttps://www.texaschlforum.com/posting.p ... &p=1227364#Pawpaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 12:15 am The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps all have long-term programs (2 - 6 years) that will help them work through those PTSD issues.
Which ever one you sign up for will provide free meals, clothing, money, and housing. Lots of group activities will be included, as well.
You forgot Worldwide travel and education benefits. :)
