Re: New home security system!

Good for you! No better security than a well trained dog. Especially when you're sleeping.

There are many different ways to walk into the trades days. I would just find a place without any sign and go in. If you are questioned then you can always show where you came in and there was no sign there. Just like at Grapevine Mills mall...there are several entrances that don't have the sign. So...

For any of this to make any sense, has there been any serious crimes committed (other than the occasional food poisoning ;-) ) in and around the fairgrounds in relation to patrons of these events??? I have never really heard of anything that would cause me to do anything other than what I do normal...

I heard about that situation in Fort Worth a few years ago where a guy came in and killed several church members. Even if I wasn't carrying, I'd feel comfortable knowing that some other people were. It really depends on your church. If your pastor doesn't want you to, then look for another church or...

Went for the first time last month. First of all, I didn't see any signs. Secondly, it's a very safe area... I know, no reason not to pack. There's so many people there though...bumping into you and such, I'd do a discreet carry. Thirdly...there's a corny dog stand about every ten feet, so bring you...

I drink and carry all the time on my property. Texas is pretty lenient about carrying on personal property. If I'm drunk and someone breaks into my house, I am still going to shoot them. This is a very possible scenario since I drink quite often. That's also why I stay at home a lot. I don't want to...

I have come to extremely dislike the grip safety. I have a .40 XD. I also own a Glock. I shoot better with it and feel that it's a better gun. If I had to trust my life to a gun, it would be a Glock, bottom line. I say go to a gun range and rent several guns and see what you shoot better with. Go w...

I noticed that Propper, the people who make good BDUs that you find at the army navy stores are now making a tactical pant. They look a bit more stylish than BDUs and are less than $30 a pair. Much cheaper than some other tactical gear. I've found Propper's stuff to be comfortable and last a long ti...

You honestly can't even carry pepper spray on you in NYC? That's not the case, but they require registration. http://www.selfdefenses.com/forcespray/newyork.html - Jim I'd heard that you can't have it at all. Registering for pepper spray sounds ridiculous. It's not even lethal. Yeah, it can ...

Finally went to Academy today

A while back I was asking if Academy had guns, because I went to the one in Arlington and didn't see any. Today I went to the one in Grapevine and they had a decent selection. They had a Bushmaster AR at a pretty good price, but not the one I want. One thing I did notice was the H&R snakecharmer...

I normally never shop on the day after Thanksgiving, but last year I went to Bass Pro and they had a deal on the Springfield XD's. I bought a .40. It wasn't the best deal in the world, but I still haven't seen one cheaper at the gun show... I think I paid $460 for it and it's normally $500.

Well, this didn't happen on the street in Dallas. It happened in NYC, where the libs have made sure that you can't carry mace or a knife or anything else to protect yourself. So there you are watching an old woman being stabbed and you have no weapon and there is a butcher knife wielding maniac ther...

Man, sorry to hear that you went down. It happens to everyone from time to time. I wear a spine protector, armored jacket and pants, boots and duh, a helmet! Almost every crash I hear about is because a car pulled out in front, ran them off the road, etc. I've had near misses from people cutting me ...
