If you sat the 2 weeks and that was it, how did this drag out from 09 all the way to 2013?
That doesn't matter, stay out of my business and mind your own, I'm just here to inform myself and ask questions. HAVE A NICE DAY! :) :txflag:

I don't know if that time starts from conviction or final release. If I understand your post, you were cleared in 2013 so, you probably have until 2018 until you can apply.

Keep all your paperwork to send to DPS.

Welcome to the forums.
Thanks thats exactly the information I needed, also does the same apply to purchasing a handgun???
It depends on what the actual charge was. If it was a felony and you were convicted, then you are not eligible to purchase a firearm. However, you said it was less than 2oz which is a class B misdemeanor
Sec. 481.121. OFFENSE: POSSESSION OF MARIHUANA.
(a) Except as authorized by this chapter, a person commits an offense if the person knowingly or intentionally possesses a usable quantity of marihuana.(b) An offense under Subsection (a) is:
(1) a Class B misdemeanor if the amount of marihuana possessed is two ounces or less;.....
So, if that is the charge, then you have two answers on the 4473 form for the purchase of the firearm. Section 11 (c) have you been convicted of a felony or other charge that could land you in jail for more than a year (class B misdemeanor is no), and 11 (e) about marijuana and other drug use. If you are not a user and have been clean since your charge, then you would answer that accordingly.

You will not need your disposition to fill out the form for a firearm. They will run the background check and if it passes (assuming you have no other issues on your record), then you can purchase a firearm.
Oh ok so ill have to wait 5 years for the chl and since it's a class b misdemeanor how long would I have to wait to purchase?

You can contact the Parker County court and ask teh clerk for a certified copy of your disposition. You will need that for your CHL application anyway if you are elligble.
Oh I will? Ok cool ill get on to that as soon as I get home after work. Thanks.

You've said what the charge was, but nothing about the disposition of the charge. Was the charge dropped? Were you convicted or acquitted? If you were convicted, what category of crime was it.....Felony, Class A, B, or C misdemeanor? If you were acquitted, you don't have a problem.....as long as you can prove to DPS that you were acquitted. If charges are still pending, then yes, it will likely keep your application from going through.

From the CHL website: http://www.stateoftexaschl.com/chl-faqs/
A number of factors may make you ineligible to obtain a license, such as: felony convictions and some misdemeanor convictions, including charges that resulted in probation or deferred adjudication; pending criminal charges; chemical or alcohol dependency; certain types of psychological diagnoses protective or restraining orders, and defaults on state or city taxes, governmental fees, or child support.
No the charges werent dropped, I sat the 2 weeks out and that was the end of it.
