Re: renewal change

Thanks for all the help, had old paperwork from the end of July . Found the FAQ on the DPS website that says to ignore the requirements for the training cert. Do you have a link to this FAQ? I've been looking for it. I also paid my renewal application fee a few months ago, and was going to schedule...

Re: Renewal class at the Arms Room

Thanks for the feedback! I'm up for a renewal and since Charles doesn't have any on the schedule I'll give The Arms Room a look.

Re: HB 2756 Open Carry bill reported favorably

I really hope open carry passes, if for no other reason than Houston summers where it is nearly impossible to comfortably conceal a weapon without imprinting.

Re: Lawsuit Option?? Any thoughts??

"Reasonable Doubt" plays a huge role in the courtroom, and as USA1 states just because you have a weapon doesn't mean that without a doubt you would have been able to successfully defend yourself. Your family would also be suing the state who has huge pockets and the ability to slow the li...

Re: April 2009 Applications

Yeah, it was my fault for not checking my status on the website regularly, as they sent me a letter and it never came... I wish they would learn to send stuff certified or signature required, but it's the State that would make too much sense.

Re: Status site says the app is not active...

Mine says it wasn't active for over two months and then my plastic showed up yesterday, so just because it says that doesn't mean you're not going to get plastic in hand. Call them if you have to but I just waited it out and it all worked out.

Re: April 2009 Applications

After over six long months I FINALLY received my plastic in the mail yesterday. There was about a a two month hold up on "pixelated" passport photos that weren't... but either way I'm glad to finally have.

Re: April 2009 Applications

I just received a letter back from DPS saying that the photo provided was of "poor quality" and was "pixelated"... crazy thing is the picture was taken and reviewed by the Top Gun CHL course and to me it doesn't seem pixelated at all, even when viewing under a magnifying glass, t...

Re: Can anyone in Houston help check out a business? - UPDATE

I wouldn't feel bad for the business owner, he was probably in on it and got a cut of the profits. I don't think the owner of this scooter place was in on it. I get very similar emails - some very specific as to what the "customer" is looking for - on a regular basis for a local A/C contr...

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

My new CCW is the Walther PPS 9mm. Now if the CHL would get here I'd be all set http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll98/Garrettech/New011.jpg http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll98/Garrettech/New008.jpg Wow, 57 pages and this was the only Walther I spotted (not including the Supressed P22)... no W...

Re: Top Gun Shooting Range

One box of ammo and it's a good deal, two or more boxes and you've just paid for that free range fee. For all of the major calibers Top Gun is $10-$13 more per box of 50 rounds than Memorial Shooting Center... and I imagine that is pretty accurate for most other places around town as well.

Re: Can anyone in Houston help check out a business? - UPDATE

I feel bad for the business owner as well. Hopefully there is some avenue for him to recoup his losses. I can't help but feel this situation could have been avoided altogether though. I wouldn't feel bad for the business owner, he was probably in on it and got a cut of the profits. Honestly, if som...

Re: Any ranges in Houston without one gun requirement

Memorial Shooting Center & Gun Range at I-10 West at Gessner is per lane. They also have the cheapest ammo around. The facility isn't as nice as others like Top Gun but it is still a fun and safe place to shoot, and the people are fantastic. 50 .40 rounds cost me $24 at Top Gun and only about $...

April 2009 Applications

I didn't see an April topic and searched for one with no results, so I started one. After over a year of procrastination and depending on the "Castle Doctrine" I finally bit the bullet (bad pun) and took my CHL course at Top Gun in Houston this past weekend and mailed my packet out today. ...
