When I lived in Commiecornia on several occasions the gun vendor refused to either sell me a gun or hand it over after the waiting period because the gun lock they're required to sell me (and I have to pay for) was out of stock. In most cases the law doesn't mandate free locks....this isn't birth control or heroin needles...it requires thr gun purchaser to to buy one. While some gun retailers delayed gun purchases by not having locks in stock most smaller gun shops used the law to generate extra revenue by only stocking premium gun locks in the $50 range.
I don't live in Commiefornia anymore but I still have a bunch of gun locks....in their original packaging, never opened. Nobody has ever been hurt by any of my guns and nobody who shouldn't be able to get to them has ever gotten to them so I guess forcing me to buy gun locks really does make the world a safter place.
