Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
The vote, IMO, is not that all surprising. People tend to fear what they do not understand. I grew up in a household which there were no firearms. That was "left for the police." It was not until I became an adult and LEARNED something for MYSELF and discovered that THEIR view is really the backward one. But, again, it is usually the unenlightened and frightened are the ones who are most resistant to change.

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
You read of them from time-to-time...I can only recall of two (if memory serves one was in a border town and the other in the northeast part of the state) but it has happened...again, here I am talking K-12. Look, school authorities have wide latitude in creating local policy. I predict it is something we will see more of, not less.

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
Oh sorry, YES the prohibition in public school parking lots K-12 is by local school board policy, not statute. It is really a defacto prohibition however, because most school districts prohibit employees from having firearms on ANY school property except for very limited and supervised exceptions. Of course, we have seen some school districts contemplating or even allowing teachers and administrators to legally conceal.

As for public schools, isn't that prohibition via school board rules for employees rather than via statute?
I was referring to another post which did not seem to see your OP...

Re: Legal Carry on College Campuses
BTW, I wish you luck...What is REALLY messed up is that my wife can't take her gun with her to school and lock it in her car on school property. I am glad the legislature changed this for colleges as at least I have it before and after class. With public schools, folks like my wife are fundamentally disarmed from the time they leave the house until they get home (unless they park off school property which is not possible for her). Anyway, if we can keep inching forward the little victories add up. Keep up the good fight!
