Re: i'm buying a shotgun and need advice

I would think an 870 20 gauge combo would be a great place to start. Gives you a 26" vented barrell for the times you go on a dove hunt. For the other days of the year install the 20" barrell loaded with some 00 buckshot & you have a great home defense gun.

Re: Gun Safe In Garage?

Thanks for all the replys & suggestions. I ended up putting it in my closet in the master bedroom which even with an applaince dolly was not easy. I also mounted it to the slap with 4 concrete anchors, plus the opening side is next to the wall which will make using a pry bar hard to do. While I ...

Gun Safe In Garage?

I finally bought a gun safe & now need to figure out were to put it. I got a good deal on a American Eagle (made by Cannon) 20DX30Wx60H safe at Academy. They took 30% off since it was scrathed & dented doesn't affect the safe at all just the eye. Of Course my wife wants it in the garage but ...

Re: 8-12-09 Boy's Shooting Death - "jostled a backpack"

Very sad story, I feel for the family that will have to bear the what-ifs for life. While I know it could happen as described, but is a little hard to believe. That said this is a classic example of poor gun safety. As the father of 4 kids the thought of leaving a loaded gun anywhere within reach of...

Re: 243 vs. 270 vs. 30.06

My first deer rifle as a teen was a WIN 670 in 243, then the first gun I bought was a Rem 700 in 30-06 when I was 19. Bought the '06 becaused I felt like a kid shooting my 243 while in deer camp with my friends who were shooting 300 & 7mm mags. So I bought the 30-06 & used it for 1 season &a...

Re: Are you hoarding ammo???

Hoarding not really due to $$$. However my thoughts on ammo on hand has changed greatly in the last several months. Plus my shooting has dropped off quite a bit as I fear of depleting what little ammo I have. At this point instead of buying loaded ammo I am working on my reloading supplies.

Re: Homeowner shoots back at M-16/AR-15 wielding robbers

That was wild, good for the home owner. One thing I got from it was that while we all then to over think our guns, bullets & cailbier. Main thing is to have a gun, as even though he was out numbered & out gunned. He still came out on top because he was prepared & aware of his surrondings.

Re: Southwest Border Violence Reduction Act of 2009

Sure seems like a well built & well patroled fence would take care of most of these problems. If we would take border patrol serious we cut cut down on the drugs & illegal aliens coming into US & stop the flow of guns into Mexico. I just find it odd we are so worried about the flow of gu...

Re: Shooting in Houston by CHL holder

Who wuz it said "Nuthin' good ever happens after midnight." ? I think this is in the parents handbook. As a rowdy teenager I thought my parents were over protective. Now as a father I understand & have been know to repeat the phrase many times. Funny when my kids roll their eyes at me...

DOn't think I would have pulled my gun to protect the poor lab or a even a child. Just too many things that you can't contorl. Could you really be sure that the bullet would not over penetrate or ricochet off of bone & hurt an unintended target. I think the pepper srpay or putting a kabar/pocket...

"I was looking through binoculars," witness Michael Grant said. "We seen the gun when they shot him. The gun fell out of his hand. I don't know what all the extra, all of the extra shots, I don't know what that was all for. I think they murdered the man. That was unnecessary what the...
