In the meantime, if you're up in Washington, getting a Washington permit is pretty easy. I'm on vacation just north of Seattle right now and I went to the local courthouse earlier this week to renew my permit. All I had to do was fill out a form which basically just repeated the standard questions on a 4473 and give them $32 for the renewal fee. If you're getting a permit for the first time, the only difference is that they also fingerprint you and it's a $60 fee. I was in and out of the courthouse in under a half-hour. If only Texas renewals were so easy...
