The interesting thing will be the response from gun manufacturers.

Will they, or some of them, simply pull out of the CA market?

Will they start building "49 state guns" and "CA guns"?

Or will they implement microstamping on all of their guns to maintain a single production process flow?

I think that companies that decide to serve the CA market by implementing microstamping will see some backlash from gun owners in other states, similar to what happened to S&W when they signed the consent decree (surrendering to Clinton's lawsuit) back in the 90's. I suspect this will happen even if they offer non-microstamped guns to other states.

I would favor a boycott of any company that went along with CA on this.

I would like to see what they do when their LE agencies are unable to buy guns.

But in a spirit of compromise, I think I could agree with having all LE guns microstamped while the gun companies simply don't sell to the non-LEO market.
