Re: AR-15: Cartridge stuck in chamber
There are extra long pipe cleaners available for this purpose. Our armorers taught us that gas tubes are like "rear ends" (clean version of what they really said) nothing should EVER be stuck up them. He said that carb cleaner would work great and that is all it should take if the gun was...

Re: Story on Glock legal problems
Texas traffic laws are the same way. If an officer wants to pull over a car, it only would take a couple minutes before the officer would observe some sort of infraction and the lights can come on. We were taught that if you follow someone for a mile (not on the hwy but in town) and can't find some...

Firearms admonishment now required on all Class C citations
This was just sent out to all the officers in our department today: Due to the recent enactment of Senate Bill 1236, citations issued by law enforcement officers are required to contain an admonishment related to possession of firearms, in certain circumstances. Effectively immediately, every citati...

Re: Travis Co. judges: No guns in court for LEO's!
I am waiting for it to get tested. There is nothing in the law that allows this. The federal courts here in Dallas do not allow LEOs into the courthouse while armed. You must place your weapon in a lock box before proceeding on to the courts. Don't know if they require that of Federal Agents or jus...

Re: Dallas Deputy Sheriff
if he was in a hurry he might have got a call. He probably wasn't writing traffic tickets - unless they were "aggravated". He was set up on that location for a reason and was using PC to stop vehicles. By the way, the DSO now handles all traffic enforcement for the majority of all the fre...

Re: ABC 20/20 "Guns in America"
The "Active Shooter" situations were a joke. I now have watched each one several times (thanks DVR) and it was totally unrealistic. Each time the "shooter" came in and shot the instructor first thing, and then quickly turned and engaged the one person in the room carrying a conce...

Re: Inexcusable behavior by DPD officer
Rest assured that the majority of DPD officers are extremely offended and embarrassed by this officer's behavior and attitude. As a Dallas Police Officer I join with our Chief of Police in apologizing for this incident. There are over 4,000 employees of the DPD and the old saying that we all have gr...

Re: new gunshot sensing technology?
The system with the cameras included may be the better system if it can actually provide video in seconds of the gunfire. It can but it's a lot more costly (both in terms of installation and monitoring) than just using audio only. We are in the process of implementing a gun shot detection system so...

Re: EOTech vs. Aimpoint
Dallas SWAT have more EO Techs than Aimpoints. FYI - up until about six months ago EOTech was the only approved optics for our ARs and M4s. Aimpoints are now allowed so you will start seeing more of those. It's a Chevy v. Ford thing - some officers love EOT and others love the Aimpoint. One thing w...
