Re: Houston Livestock Show/Rodeo to Prohibit OC
This law was supposedly to "slap the good ol boys upside the head". How many laws doing the same is it going to take?TexasCajun wrote:Then that would provide the basis for further changes. If an entity deliberately tries to ignore or circumvent the law, even the good ol boys are going to eventually get slapped upside the head.anygunanywhere wrote:A win.....for next year? You just made my point. The HLSR will have a case of amnesia next year.
I predict right now that nothing happens and the rodeo powers that be do the exact same thing next year and ignore the law.

Re: Houston Livestock Show/Rodeo to Prohibit OC
From the looks of things the resolution will be reached just in time to be able to carry after the rodeo is over. Perfect!joe817 wrote:FINALLY!! Great news TexasCajun! Your efforts paid off.TexasCajun wrote:I've received a copy of the letter that the AG's office has sent to Harris County Sports & Convention Corp & cc'd Harris Co Judge Ed Emmett. The letter says that OAG has received a complaint & is investigating it. They have 10 days to respond and/or provide any relevant information. The letter was sent from Zindia Thomas, Assistant Attorney General in the Administrative Law Division.
The system appears to be working, at least so far. Please keep us informed.

Re: Houston Livestock Show/Rodeo to Prohibit OC
It is still owned by Harris County so we are good to pursue this.TexasCajun wrote:I received a response from Harris County - Houston Sports Authority. Apparently, the county has some sort of arrangement with a non profit called Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation that actually is in charge of operations at NRG Stadium. The head honchos over there aren't as forthcoming with their contact info. I called the main number & got no answer. So I faxed the complaint to the number listed on the website.
I'll keep y'all posted on any response (if any) and developments.

Mayhaps those who are familiar with the process could post in this thread exactly what the rest of us need to do. I am familiar with the forms on the TFC website and have read about the process, but some specific directions for this specific complaint would be very helpful to those not up to speed.Scott in Houston wrote:We need as many AG complaints as possible. Pass this to all your 2A friends. Everyone on this board should do this.
Lots of us are jonesin' for a showdown.

The HLSR elites have spoken under protection of Harris County. The commoners must obey. Buy your tickets! Eat, drink, be merry….unarmed.

Re: Houston Livestock Show/Rodeo to Prohibit OC
I would think all it would take would be a phone call from the AG office to whatever city/county person in charge to get things done. I am certain there are enough members of this forum who would flood a 800 number to report illegal signs.mr1337 wrote:Education of the law is built-in. Citizens educate the municipality and they have 3 days to look it up and take down the sign and/or change their policy.Pariah3j wrote:I don't think that's fair to Paxton - he is busy and has done some great things. But he does seem to be holding back on going after municipalities. Maybe he's giving them a chance to get familiar with the law. I don't know - it is frustrating but at the same time but I won't accuse the man of not doing is job.RossA wrote:You mean to force the AG to do his job?
Leave it to legislatures and lawyers to make things complicated and end up not getting the intent of laws accomplished.

Re: Houston Livestock Show/Rodeo to Prohibit OC
There really ought to be a better way to get the AG to turn these situations back on these jerks.
