So wait a minute now the complaint is that they will actually be doing their jobs and that law enforcement will arrest people? The problem is they may enjoy it? Mind you the laws are actually made up by the legislature and they aren't generally going after grandma who bought something she shouldn't but stores and organizations that defraud the public for millions of dollars not to mention the animal fighting rings, criminal assaults on government employees, etc.
Not gonna get in a circle logic argument with you. Of course the agencies are going after citizens who break their rules. That is what they do. Don't confuse all of this with actual law enforcement though. They can just as easily SWAT you for a code violation, improper deduction, or rule (not law) infraction.

Done.

Those food stamp frauds are known to be a particularly vicious bunch.

/sarcasm.

This proves nothing except the continued militarization of the fed agencies.

Well since the guns were purchased for the IG office not for the animal inspectors you wont have an issue, right?
Well I guess my sarcasm didn't quite shine so I will say that my attempt was aimed at the dept of agriculture as a whole. As is typical of pretty much all fed departments they have way overstepped their bounds. Get back to cows, sheep, and goats.

The FBIs primary (but not only) mission since 9-11 has become counter-terrorism and the variety of agencies retain their own OIG to investigate criminal activity that is specific to their mission. It's a federated approach as opposed to a more centralized one.

Truthfully I see a lot of advantages to doing it this way as it allows more special agent specialization and probably increases the effectiveness of investigations overall.
There are disadvantages to this too, and they are more menacing than what would happen if every government alphabet agency did not have their own militarized regime enforcement agents.
