My Weimaraner was very agressive and tried to establish dominance early on. He nipped me when I disciplined him for some infraction. I pinned him on his back and bit his ear and drew blood. No more issues with me. I was alpha.
Agressive, dominant dogs can learn pack order in a human family. Dogs are actually more relaxed and comfortable if someone else is alpha and they are taught where they rank. I will try and give you some information, and you can use it with your youngster. ALL members of the family must use these rules to maintain order. Once established, it will be easy.
1. Never greet your dog before members of the family. Ignore the dog until you kiss your wife, hug your kids etc. If the og tries to get his greeting, tell him no, ignore him. Do not make eye contact.
2. Never allow your dog to enter or exit the den (house) through a door before people. Make the dog sit/stay and command him to enter after all people are in/out of the house. Inside the house is ok except fro one place - stairs. Make the dog sit/stay until you/family are up and down then command dog to do same.
3. Everyone feeds the dog as a usual routine. The dog eats after everyone else eats. The dog watches everyone else eat. No feeding from the table. If the dog shows agressive behavior when any person approaches his food, immediate severe disciplne is warranted.
4. Learn signs of dominance in dogs. Possessiveness, humping legs, pooping on the floor, all are signs of dominance.
5. The dog must have a place all his own, and toys that are his. These areas are pretty much off limits. My Weimaraner would actually share his toys once he learned what was his and what was ours. and he knew we would respect his place.
6. Walk your dog, do not let your dog walk you.
7. If the dog requires discipline for a severe infraction, apply the correction and ignore the dog for 30 minutes. Do not make eye contact until period over. If necessary, isolate the dog from the family and ignore it. Evryone must do this. After isolation period, then the dog can be loved.
Your dogs should want to stay in the yard. The yard and house are their safe place. Neutered dogs who are comfortable at home will not often wander, even if the gate is open.

Dangerous situation
They need to either obtain professional help and train that dog, or else there will be a tragedy. That Rott will do some damage if he isn't put in his place. You are right. Dogs should be treated like dogs. There should be no question regarding who is the boss of the house. Dogs come after all humans, even if the human is only six months old. If there is anyquestion the dog must go.

Nice Dog
I like dogs better than most humans. No offense, fellow packers.
Tehlump, I am a Weimaraner person, and I do not see any Weim in your dog. Ears too pointed like a Doberman. My last Weim friend was a 95 lb male. None of the personality traits you list describes Weimaraners. My friend was loyal, fearless, intelligent, persistent, agressive when he needed to be, and sweet as a baby when he was around friends. When I left the house, no one was going to enter the house. The wife was as safe as safe could be. STamina to hunt all day long. The breed is third fastest in canine world, clocked at 38 mph.
Pack dogs should cower when fussed at. It is a pack thing. You are the alpha male. Just looking at the dogs wrong should make them cower if the pack order is established.
