And, I agree with baldeagle that Texas schools are "top-heavy". I've never seen so many principals, vice-principals, sub-vice principals, associate principals, sub-vice associate principals, etc. and then you have to add in all the staff that each one of them gets...and I'd imagine that anyone with principal in their title gets paid quite a bit more than a teacher. The word is bureaucracy, and it is expensive.
Department of Education, NEA and TEA are worst enemies of our childrten.

I'm not sure why people think Perry is all powerful, in Texas our gov is not that powerful, it's all Leg. that's simply the what it was set up.

The Governor has about as much power in Texas as Obama does in national affairs. They have the bully pulpit to promote ideas of good governance. Obama use his wrongly, and Perry does not use his at all.
I suppose that the democrat alternatives that have always run against Perry would have been much better choices that you would be happy with.
