You really have no idea how bad it is up here. The other day there was an article in the Toronto rag about four pharmacy armed robberies where the BG demanded oxycontin, the painkiller.

First off, the BG forgot handguns are illegal in Canada.

But I digress. The article described steps that pharmacy owners needed to do to protect themselves from armed robbers. Remove stuff from windows so passersby can call 911 if they see someone robbing the place. Install security cameras. The most important thing is to cooperate with the BG and give him what he wants. Cooperation will "hopefully" avoid violence.
