Re: OCT Severs ties with Tarrant County Chapter.

It seems the shorter of the two is also a substance abuser, and the anti-gun crowd has screen captures to support that position.

Chipotle has now banned guns, but have stopped at not putting 30.06 on the door.

I saw one open carry guys on I20 this past Sat. I wanted to stop and talk about their stance. I'm leaning towards no. Simply because I don't know if they are allowed to carry fully loaded, one in the chamber, and the safety off. What if some psycho is standing in line to order and reaches over to pull the trigger? Too many variables to consider if they want to carry so openly.
In Texas long guns are, for now, completely unrestricted. The Open Carry folks can legally carry with one in the chamber, safety on or off, and fully loaded if they wish. My training that I have received has always been that you carry a pistol ready to be used (round in the chamber, mag full, safety on if present) and a long in a condition where it can be made ready (loaded mag, empty chamber, bolt closed). As to how the person/people you saw were carrying I can not say.

The Annoyed Man wrote:Aaaaaaaaand...... we're back to the crux of the actual debate, to whit, how will legalized OC affect CC, and what to do about signage? OC will never pass in Texas without addressing signage requirements. Those signage requirements would have been a WHOLE lot easier for us to address if OC demonstrators had not reminded the corporatists that they are going to have to donate $$ millions to anti-OC candidates, and reminding the insurance companies to modify their liability policies to forbid CC on the premises they insure, etc., etc.

The legislature will HAVE to address this, and the VERY BEST we could have hoped for would have been a separate "big ugly sign" requirement for OC. But as long as OC demonstrators continue to rub the public's nose in this issue, the two likely outcomes will either be (best case) a gunbusters sign for OC, or (worst case) a change to the wording of 30.06 to include OC.

And THIS is what comes of irresponsible activism by those lacking in realistic political wisdom.
Considering that TSRA will most likely be pushing an OC bill this session (Those of us who are spectating can't say for sure until it happens), and considering that we know who typically writes TSRA legislation (Thank you for the work you do Charles!), I am fairly certain that 30.06 will not be modified/altered to include OC.

Re: OCT Severs ties with Tarrant County Chapter.

If they can put up a gun buster sign that keeps people from carrying guns in a manner their customers are bothered by then they will. Most businesses will not put up a big ugly sign that simply keeps out something the customers will never see especially if it does nothing to keep out objects that customers can see...

We need to unite and do work on both front organized public OC events and lobbying to get OC legal in Texas. United we stand, divided we falter.
First off we need to stage a protest calling for legalization of handgun OC. We need to do it without using the in your face tactics, and avoid repeating tactics to the point they get the response of "Yawn..."

So lets use the mythical "Texans United For Open Carry" group, which would possibly be known as TU4OC. Lets say there is a comic convention or Star Wars convention in town the group could walk around dressed up as male and female versions of Han Solo with a banana in the holster with a few dressed as a robot that would be called 2-4-OC. The group would catch the attention of the convention goers and they would look into the issue.

The next week get everybody together, call the media, go to the park and do a "pushing up for OC" event where the protesters each do up to one push up for each year that OC has been banned.

The next week do something different. The more unusual the better it is for catching the medias attention and leave the long guns at home because you don't want them to be the subject of the media coverage.

OCT Severs ties with Tarrant County Chapter.

The Tarrant County based chapter of Open Carry Texas is no longer part of Open Carry Texas. This is the OCT chapter that was was discussed specifically in the round table I hosted for the Open Carry Report Episode 10. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2014/05/06/tarr ... g-too-far/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
