Mine feels best just behind the point of the hip, I have never tried carrying in the middle of the back. Just for the record I too have the love handles and my super tuck is extremely comfortable.

A super tuck will work, but if your looking at the crossbreed web page they also make a mini tuck for it as well... If that is the only 1911 you own and plan to ever own get the mini tuck, otherwise go for the super tuck. I carry my 3.5" barrel 1911 with my super tuck as well as my 4" and 5" guns depending on which 1911 I choose to carry.
