Re: Quick question for you guys on a comfort factor...
Haha yeah in a a problem arises scenario it's being pulled when I still have several rounds left in the other and just being held until needed and I'm just dropping the other one to the ground.OrangeAnimal wrote:I would suggest the best scenario to be carrying them OWB. Second in the pocket and last in IWB. You have to contend with your shirt in the way possibly needing two hands to grasp it etc. Too much trouble, I will say the only mag carrier I tried was hybrid kydex/leather one and the mags just fit so tight in there. An all kydex one may be better as the material will not crush down between your waist and your belt. When/if you ever have to call upon a second magazine you better be able to find cover or be like lightening with it. I choose to find cover. Matter of fact I will be looking for it as soon as I fire more than a couple shots and notice things just aren't going in my favor.

I guess I didn't take the lint build up into account with pocket carry, interesting.johncanfield wrote:I'm still carrying my spare 12 round magazine in my left pocket and it is the exclusive tenant of that pocket. Every few months I have to unload it and use my air compressor to blow out the lint - it's amazing how much builds up from pocket carry.OrangeAnimal wrote:It's not that hard to withdraw and load another mag from your pocket. I think that sticking them in your pocket the only trouble you could likely have is if you keep other items in there. Change, pocket lint, a receipt etc. could become stuck in the end of the mag. I know that an awful lot of crap gets built up on my gun and I don't even have it in my pocket. ..

Re: Quick question for you guys on a comfort factor...
I will I will! With our M4's I am set on those, when we do our annual Table 2 Combat Rifle qual we stuff them in our pockets a lot of the time so I am familiar with the motion, but those magazines stick out of my pocket and these won't so it will take some work.TexasCajun wrote:I use the Foxx dual single attack 9mm mag carrier iwb. Wear it every day with no problems. If you pocket carry your spare mags, make sure you devote extra time to reload drills.

Re: Quick question for you guys on a comfort factor...
Ah, well I may just go the pocket route then. I may go try on a few mag holsters but we will see. In any of the justified shootings any of you fine folks have heard of did it negatively affect the shooter in court because they had an extra magazine? Like did the other side try and make it look like they were looking for a fight because they had additional rounds?RJGold wrote:I have an IWB mag holder, several OWB mag holders, and one holster with a spare mag holder built in. I very seldom use any of them. I most often carry my spare mags in my pocket. I have a nylon knife holster that I use for my .380 spare mags but I don't attach it to my belt, I carry it in my pocket as well...

Re: Quick question for you guys on a comfort factor...
Is that the general consensus, then?OrangeAnimal wrote:I got a Crossbreed IWB single mag holster put it on once. Then tossed it in a drawer. OWB for the mag or just put in your pocket. I rarely carry the extra mag unless I have to carry my .380. The mags are tiny so tossing one in my pocket is no big deal and I can retrieve and load in short order, I have practiced it.

I bet it is!AlaskanInTexas wrote:I solved this problem by just not carrying an extra magazine. Not the best tactical solution, but quite comfortable.
I will be carrying with my 12 round extended magazine in and just wanted to carry my 9 round flush magazine as a spare.

Darn, unfortunately I missed that part of it, I'm sorry! I am carrying an XD.40 Subcompact.Shoot_First wrote:The one I used was a BladeTech, but Blackhawk also makes one that will work and there are probably others. The key is to be able to remove the belt slide or paddle to leave a relatively flat surface. The paddle on mine came off by removing some screws. Could always remount the belt slide/paddle if desired. I trust you are carrying a 1911 of some type. The one I'm offering only works for M1911 .45ACP mags.TrackinPat wrote:Well I truly appreciate that, sir! I may have to give you a six pack for the convienence.Shoot_First wrote:Also LH. Wear the IWB at ~11:00 as close to middle as possible with the kydex magazine pouch in right rear pocket. I have tried the single spare magazine route without a pouch and while it works as Andy says, you have to be mindful of lint, pocket trash, etc. getting into the mag. Wanting to have two spare mags and eliminate the mag contamination problem, I went with the stripped kydex double magazine pouch solution. It works for me. My offer of the free Crossbreed IWB double mag pouch stands if you want to try that route.TrackinPat wrote:Left handed , but I am going to try out the spare mag in my right pocket, I keep my wallet and keys there but I can make it fit.Sport Coach wrote:I second the holster IWB and spare mag in left front pocket (assuming right handed). My IWB is reasonably comfortable since I bought pants one size up and I make sure to have only spare mag in pocket, switching keys to right pocket.
Where did you find that Kydex pouch at? Any particular brands to look at?

Re: Quick question for you guys on a comfort factor...
I will definitely PM you if I decide to go with that IWB, but I'm not sure yet. You bring up a good point and I think it would be taking up a lot of room as well.Shoot_First wrote:I have a Crossbreed IWB double magazine pouch for 1911 mags that rests in the bottom of the holster drawer we all have. The holster and magazine pouch took up too much real estate on my 40" waist, was difficult to rig on both sides without my pants falling down, and just took too long. Now I wear the IWB holster and carry two mags in a kydex double magazine pouch with the belt clip removed... looks like a wallet in my back pocket... no one has ever asked why I carry two wallets. This setup gives me 25 rounds of .45ACP on board. If you want the Crossbreed IWB double magazine pouch, PM me to arrange pick up if you or over Beaumont way.

Will that put an annoying amount of pressure on my hips and sides or what? I'm almost inclined to carry an OWB magazine carrier with it.
