Yes, I believe I jumped rashly to an opinion that may or may not even be true. Furthermore, the reasons that were outlined such as open carry would make me view things differently from a business stand point... especially in a store like that where not only are you going to get all the avid and crazy wannabe Robertsons and the nice families who just enjoy the show.. the two won't mesh well in the store in the wannabes are going to be running around open carrying and acting ridiculous... not saying all open carriers would do that but that store will most certainly attract some and they have a business to run. It's a tricky situation there in LA.bauer wrote:TrackinPat wrote: Glad I live in Texas.
No truer words have ever been spoken.
As for the Gift shop being posted, I can kinda understand the necessity of such an action for the reasons outlined above. I find it hard to blame the family for doing so if they in fact do know of the sign.

Re: POSTED: Duck Commander Gift Shop - W. Monroe, LA
Oh god I couldn't remember where for the life of me, this was like 2 years ago.. I will have to try that next time we are headed that way! I am possibly going to go tailgate the ATM/LSU game in November so I may do it then!jmra wrote:I had an office in James Business Park in St. Rose for 15 years.TrackinPat wrote:My girlfriend's family is all from St. Rose, LA and got me all worked up on "Po boys" and then I had one and didn't even like it!jmra wrote:Some things you must remember about La. It is an open carry state for both handguns and long rifles. There is no way to prevent unpermitted open carry without preventing all forms of carry.
So if you want to prevent a Sy character wannabe from walking into the store thinking he is going to show off his toys and his skeet shooting ability to the "family", you have no choice but to put up some kind of no gun sign.
Lessons learned from my 30+ years in La:
- Open carry comes with a price
- Texans don't realize how fortunate they are to have 30.06 signs
- you can't find a decent roast beef po-boy in Texas
I suppose you're right though, that would be a logical enough reason for me to probably do it as well after the 457th wanna be Robertson came in slinging a Mossberg 500 over his back and decked in camo from head to toe.
What kind of po-boy did you have and from where? My favorite is a roast beef with mayo and gravy (no rabbit food) from Come Back Inn in Metairie. Fried shrimp po-boy is also really good.
Ever have a Muffuletta? My kids grew up here in Texas but every couple of months they start bothering the living day lights out of me until we cave in and do a weekend trip for some New Orleans cooking.

Glad I live in Texas. The Annoyed Man wrote:http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/louisiana.pdfCHLLady wrote:Now that is a disappointment! I wonder if that is effective notice for LA?So, a property owner, lessee, or other lawful custodian can put up a "no guns" sign, and that constitutes effective notice. Furthermore, you have to notify a home owner and receive permission from that home owner before you may legally carry into his home.Do “No Gun Signs” Have the Force of Law?
“YES”
From the Louisiana DPS Concealed Handgun Unit Web Page.
The provisions of R.S. 40:1379.3 (N) shall not limit the right of a property owner, lessee, or other lawful
custodian to prohibit or restrict access of those persons possessing a concealed handgun pursuant to a permit
issued under this Section. No individual to whom a concealed handgun permit is issued may carry such
concealed handgun into the private residence of another without first receiving the consent of that person.

Re: POSTED: Duck Commander Gift Shop - W. Monroe, LA
Well, hopefully they will rectify it. I don't personally care because I'm not a fan of the show anyways but I would hate to see that sign stay up if they truly care about firearms and our freedom.JSThane wrote:Quick question for you - how many shops are there, does the family themselves run the day-to-day operations of the store, and is it possible the sign was posted by a well-meaning but ignorant (or not-so-well-meaning) employee?
I had a run-in with a local Wally World that posted the front doors with basic printed "no guns" signs, and called corporate. The signs were fairly quickly replaced with "No guns -except- those carried by LEO -and- CHL" type signs, posted due to New Mexico's liquor laws (concealed is fine in places selling booze, open is not, for some reason).
Give Duck Dynasty/Commander a chance to rectify this, or at least clarify whether this was some ignorant shift manager or a corporate policy-setter who posted it.

Nothing more disappointing than a supposed family of values selling out those values to please ignorant people.
