Re: February 2014 Applications

Sent in my stuff on Feb 17th No updates for weeks. Called DPS to ask about it on March 17th and was told that it would probably take 6 - 8 weeks before i saw any status updates on the site. Checked the site the next day (March 18th) and there was an update! Coincidence or does the squicky wheel get...

Re: Found A Gun in NRH

Any updates on this? I am very interested to hear the outcome of this story.. I would take it as high up the ranks of the PD as i could, just to see if you can walk away with that gun! Maybe found property rules (laws??) have exceptions for firearms.. I'm sure those exemptions exist for prohibited o...

LOL yeah true enough.. And with the change in the law last year a gush of wind, making one to flash his gun, is now an "oops" incident with no consequence (as i understand it)

CHL is being printed ! :thumbs2:

Open Carry

I used to open carry in CO when i would walk my dog in the early morning. It would be dark and i would take quiet streets etc so i've never encountered anyone who even noticed. But if someone would, I would have been OK because its legal in CO. I'd like to do the same here in Texas and with (what se...

Re: One in the pipe - do you do it?

Kahr CM 9 or Glock 23 G4 (depending on the attire of the day). Both have one permanently in the pipe, whether they are on my person or in their "beds" (They each have their own GunVault) . I want to be able to grab, point and shoot without questioning in my head if its going to do BANG.. R...

Re: Moving from Colorado to Texas

You could look into a non-resident permit Texas honors that is quick and easy, just to tide you over until you have time get the TX CHL. I don't know which that would be, but I am sure someone could point you that direction. Welcome to Texas :cheers2: Thanks for the welcome and the suggestion! The ...

Re: Moving from Colorado to Texas

I read somewhere that there is a law in the making that reduces the class time from 10 hours to 4, is this true? I believe so, yes. Unfortunately it won't speed up the licensing office once you've sent in the paperwork, so I wouldn't wait for it to go through if I were you. BTW, welcome t...

Re: Moving from Colorado to Texas

OK here's my Answer. I sent the Sheriff's office an email and they responded promptly: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Colorado only allows for resident permits, so unfortunately, once you obtain a Texas Driver’s Licens...

Re: Moving from Colorado to Texas

It sounds like you are pretty spot on for most of your points. No your gun does not have to be unloaded in the vehicle, however it has to be concealed from plain view. As far as the residency thing, and I'm not advocating purposefully or knowingly breaking the law, but residency transition is a gra...

Moving from Colorado to Texas

Hi This is my first post. I am a gun enthousiast from Colorado moving to Houston. The 8 - year old daughter of good friends of ours asked me: "Mr V, are you moving to Texas to escape the new Colorado gun laws?" I lauged hard, and eventhough that isnt the (real) reason, I am very happy to m...
