Apparently the OP wants to put this on the back of the "Rent a Cop" for not being up on CHL laws. I think that is a reach. If the guy asking the question was indeed referring to a CHL, then it's all a matter of personal responsibility as far as I'm concerned.
In my experience, more than half the LEOs I've talked to are misinformed/ignorant of CHL laws. How do you expect more from a "Rent a Cop" than you do a LEO?
ohh okay thanks for clearing the mud! if the security guard were up to date he would've have told him no and unfortunately most likely would have been searched or told to go put it in the vehicle or leave.
