Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

I still have my doubts whether they really care about the mailed in form. I sent mine via snail mail, and my application transitioned to received the same day. I seriously doubt the USPS has suddenly become that efficient :-)

Mine expired mid September.

Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

My renewal application finally switched to "in manufacturing" on Monday and "mailed" today. In summary, I applied way back in the spring, mailed the form on 9/6 and the web site switched to "received" that same day (suggesting to me they don't really care about the form). It took a bit longer than a for number of people, but still quick by old standards.

Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

Given how fast other applications have progressed, I'm starting to assume mine is stuck on something, likely the old paper fingerprints. Has anyone ever received notice that they needed new prints? If so, how did they communicate it?

Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

I'm still stuck in the fingerprints and background check under review status (since September 6). My application was early in the summer; that is, considerably earlier than several of the people that already have their plastic.

I wonder, of those who got a quick turnaround time, how many have electronic fingerprints on file from the previous application? My last renewal still had the paper prints. I wonder if that makes the "review" process take longer.

Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

Interesting. Mine still shows fingerprints and background check under review. Has anyone that applied prior to 9/1 who held out for the class requirement to go away had their process complete yet?

I had hoped they would do them in order of application, but I wonder if the pre-9/1 application required some additional human intervention that could have slowed the process.

Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

I suspect someone has to manually mark the "required materials" as received, until the system gets updated to stop requiring them in the first place. If true, it will probably take them a while to update every single application.

when did you renew? I renewed Sunday 9/1 and my status is still at 'waiting for required documents'. I sent in the barcode Wednesday but it sounds like it is not needed. what a screwed up system, they did take my money though
I filled out the online application well before 9/1. I had trouble getting into a class, due both to my travel schedule and the reduced number of renewal classes. I took a chance on the class requirement going away after 9/1 even though I applied before that. It seems, so far, to have worked out.

Re: How many of us will be renewing just after Sept 1?

What if one has no discounted fees or special conditions. Will one still have to return the checklist, where the only item on the checklist is the checklist itself?

I have a similar issue, in that I can't get into a class prior to Sep 1. This is complicated by the fact that I filled out the online renewal application a while back, before I heard of the change. Then I caught up in a lot of work relate travel, and have not been able to get into a class.

Does anyone know how in-process applications will be handled after Sep 1? Can I just reapply? I realize I might eat another application fee, but that's not that different than paying for a class.
