Re: Waiting for Campus Carry...
TAMU policy is that guns are allowed in dorms, but you must purchase or rent a safe from Res Life. You are not allowed to use your own safe in a dorm. how would they know? There is no way personally that I would buy a safe from that company. BUT, there is absolutely no way I would ever live in a do...

Re: Gun Storage Procedures
I am not concerned at all with a round getting stuck in the chamber and shooting the floor, I just think about "what if" scenarios all the time. Though I am curious how much damage different firearms would actually do to a concrete foundation. I guess my question was more about do you leav...

Gun Storage Procedures
I was putting up a couple guns after going out this weekend, and I started thinking about something. When I am putting a gun up, I typically remove the magazine, rack the slide a couple times, dry fire into the ground, put the magazine back in, then put it away. I've never had any issues, or close c...

Re: Waiting for Campus Carry...
So what does a dorm resident do for storage?? From article on Fox News website For example, at the University of Texas at Austin, teachers will be allowed to declare their offices as gun-free zones, but most will post signs announcing it. Dorm residents can have guns in common areas, such as dining...

Re: Adjusting clothing in public bathroom mirror
Ok. Weird question. (I would ask in the Ladies board but it's very quiet over there.) It's common practice for women to come out of a public restroom stall and stand in front of the mirror and adjust their clothing, check their hair and makeup, etc. If I reveal my IWB holstered gun while standing i...

Re: Gun belts.
I was thinking about this last night. I have always worn my belts fairly tight, so that is likely why I haven't noticed the difference. I also carry an M&P Shield with an Alien Gear IWB. If I carried OWB with a full size, I would likely notice as well.

Re: Gun belts.
I just used a normal leather belt when I first got my license. I bought a 5.11 tactical belt a while back, can't say I noticed as much difference as everyone said I would, then I got an alien gear belt for Christmas this year. I still can't tell that much difference with that belt, but I rarely carr...

Re: When your SO has a different view...
My in-laws are questionably anti-gun, so my wife did not grow up around them like I did. She has always been a bit uncomfortable around guns for this reason. We have talked a lot about guns, and why I prefer to carry, and she has become a lot more comfortable at this point. The benefit I had from he...

Re: SB11 Implementation at A&M College Station
No, a department cannot do that, by my understanding of the TAMUS rules. They have put the burden on those making prohibition requests, on a room by room basis. It's beautiful :) J.R.@A&M, did you go to, or watch the campus carry presentation at Annenberg today? I don't remember the guys name, ...

Re: Clarification on school property
There is no difference for open or concealed carry for an LTC holder on regular (not college) school property. You can carry outside of buildings on school property as long as no school activity is going on in that area. It has been debated whether or not student pick up/drop off is a school activi...

Re: Clarification on school property
i do think open carry is different in this instance. This is what I just read in the penal code: Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon li...

Re: Clarification on school property
Walking through the parking lot is just fine for someone with an LTC or CHL as long as there is not some other activity like band practice or some other activity other than pick up or drop off going on. However, I think openly carrying is still prohibited, whether or not a school sponsored event is...

Re: Clarification on school property
I would like clarification on this subject as well. My CHL class instructor told us that it was a gray area, and he had not received a definitive answer from anyone on the subject. I live right next to an elementary school, and end up walking though the parking lot all the time, so it would be nice ...

Re: Waiting for Campus Carry...
A week from Monday. 6 business days. No I can't wait, I hate having to leave my gun at home every day. It also means any errands after work I am either disarmed, or I have to schedule going home to get it first. I am usually on a motorcycle, and don't trust locking it up on there.

Re: What's A Reasonable Cost For .22 Ammo?
I always get the remington box of 525 bullets. Shows out of stock at Academy, but its $28.99. Pretty sure I saw them at my local store earlier this week. That puts it at about 5.5¢ a round.
