All hollow points are supposed to expand and dissipate their energy faster before over penetrating, but they are still designed to go 10" into human flesh - that is a lot of sheetrock. So yeah, they are better than FMJ, but you still can't count on them being perfect. Anything that will be stopped by sheetrock won't get the job done when it needs getting done. So you need to be mindful of that, but don't let it stop you in the end.

You really might be better off with that shotgun idea - you can get a good one for less $$ than you can a pistol. About $220 for a Remington 870 at Academy in either 12 or 20. I have one in 12, but if I had it to do over again I would probably do 20 as I think it is more versatile with less recoil. I guess I'll just have to get the 20 for my son
