Except that I chose the Kia Sportage over the Ford Escape. I might still stop by, but I won't be purchasing no matter what.flintknapper wrote:As an aside: This would be an excellent time for Kalrog to revisit the dealership.
If he were to introduce himself to Kenny and let him know of his concern, I'd be willing to bet he would get a pretty sweet deal on the vehicle he was looking at, as well cement some relations for us all.

Re: Covert Dealership
Sorry, but it was only $20kRex B wrote: It's one thing to tell the manager at Taco Cabana that you will NOT be spending your $5 there this week. Quite another to take that $30K check down the street, along with the potential service business.
Lotsa clout here, make it count.

Yeah, but can we have a different topic if we want to discuss that? And stop hijacking my(?) thread?GrillKing wrote:Kalrog wrote:I think not. You have rights on public and perhaps other private property that you most assuredly do not have on mine.... BTW, CHL carry is OK by me on my property, but it is my choice.

Time to see if I understand the sides on this portion of it.txinvestigator wrote:[Ronald Reagen] There you go again [/Ronald Reagen] The signs don't mean, in any fashion, that they don't want CHLer's business. To keep insisting that does not make it true.
One side is that 2A means that you should be able to carry wherever you want and there is nothing that anyone can do about it and any sign that tries to stop you from doing so is attempting to influence your 2A right.
Side two is that the 2A only limits what the government can do (Fed and/or local) and that a private company can prohibit firearms from their property without infringement of 2A rights.
This is a constitutional amendment argument, not a CHL argument. Enough please. Both arguments have merit.

Re: Covert Dealership
Not really - not when there are so many other Ford dealers around and so many other good makes/models that favorably compete with the Escape. I can go with a different make and save money (payments and gas) or go to a different dealer and get the same vehicle at the same price.txinvestigator wrote:That sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I think its silly.
If I was totally sold on the Escape AND that dealer, then yes. But I'm not totally sold on either.

Covert Dealership
I am car hunting right now and and I stopped by the Covert Ford dealer in north Austin on 183 to test drive an Escape. Went in and noticed that they had a completely non-compliant "no guns" sign (it wasn't even close, but it did make reference to 30.05). Well, I didn't let it stop me from test driving but I am going to let it stop me from purchasing there. And I will let the internet sales manager (CJ - the person I spoke to) know why. I doubt it will make a difference, but at this point the big 3 in Detroit can't afford to lose ANY sales. Did you hear about GM's loss this morning?
